  • Publication number: 20090124146
Abstract: The invention relates to a ship propulsion unit with drive devices in the hull and all underwater pod, which is located outside of the hull and which has a front propeller and a rear propeller as well as torque transmitting devices between the drive devices and the propellers. The torque transmitting devices contain: a torque transmitting shalt that is shared by both propellers and serves to transmit torque from the drive devices into the underwater pod; front transmission devices, which are placed in the underwater pod and which are located between the shared torque transmitting shaft or both propellers and the front propeller, and; rear transmission devices that are located between the shared torque transmitting shaft of both propellers and the rear propeller. The invention also relates to a ship propulsion method during which a front propeller and a rear propeller, which are assigned to an underwater pod located outside of the hull, are driven by drive devices in the hull via torque transmitting devices.

  • Publication number: 20080233814
Abstract: The invention concerns a propulsion drive (P) with an underwater housing (6; 11) arranged on the bottom of a ship's hull, in which at least one propeller (5; 18) is mounted, being driven by a drive train of drive motor mechanisms (12) lying at least partly inside the underwater housing (6; 11), wherein a planet gear (4; 14, 15) is connected in series in the interior of the underwater housing (6; 11) to the at least one propeller (5; 18) and the planet gear (4; 14, 15) contains a sun wheel, which is configured as a part of a propeller shaft (2, 17), which is mounted in the underwater housing (6; 11) and on which the at least one propeller (5; 18) is seated outside of the underwater housing (6; 11).

  • Patent number: 6899576
Abstract: In a watercraft drive for a watercraft having front and rear propellers respectively mounted on a drive shaft in coaxial longitudinally displaced relationship, each of said propellers having at least two blades, the front and rear propellers having equal diameters and being driven at like rotational velocities. The central portion of the rear propeller up to a diameter equal to the diameter of the water jet arriving at the rear propeller, which due to the action of the front propeller has a contracted cross section, is designed to optimize the jet energy exiting the front propeller. The rear propeller has an annular area extending from the central portion to the outer circumference of the rear propeller, being designed with the same design as characterizes the front propeller. The annular area of the rear propeller receives a flow of surrounding ambient water.

  • Patent number: 6485339
Abstract: An electric propulsion pod for a ship having a electric propulsion pod heat rejection member. The electric propulsion pod is attached below the ship by a hollow ship access shaft. The electric propulsion pod contains an electric motor for producing a water propulsion. The electric motor generates an amount of heat that is conducted and subsequently released into the water through the electric propulsion pod and ship access shaft surfaces. The heat rejection member is fitted for increasing the conduction and subsequent release of the electric motor heat.

  • Publication number: 20010051475
Abstract: Dual propeller propulsion system for water crafts having two propellers (3, 4) fitted in the same axis outside the ends of an underwater housing (2) configured as a gondola so as to facilitate flow, said housing being placed under the hull of the water craft having a driving mechanism lodged in the underwater housing for both propellers (3, 4) to which the energy coming out for both propellers (3, 4) to which the energy coming out of the hull of the water craft is guided by means of a housing shank (18), one of the ends of which is mounted on the hull (24) of the water craft while the other is mounted in the underwater housing (2).

  • Patent number: 5836795
Abstract: A watercraft drive has a double rudder propeller driven by a driving engine via a driving shaft (1), an angular gear (3, 4) and an output transmission shaft (5). A propeller (6, 7) is arranged at each end of the output shaft. A guiding device made of guide blades (8a, 8b) is arranged between the propellers to correct aerodynamic conditions between both propellers (6, 7) and thus to reduce energy losses.

  • Patent number: 5435762
Abstract: Propulsion unit for watercraft, with a drive shafting (3) between a drive motor (2) and a propulsive device (1), wherein this propulsion unit with vertical drive shafting is arranged in the shaft-like housing (12) of the hull (14) such that the distance between the motor and the propulsive device is adjustable. The motor (2) acts on the drive shafting (3) via a disengaging coupling (19), and is adjustable in the horizontal plane between two end positions when the coupling (19) is disengaged, wherein the motor (2) and the drive shafting (3) can be coupled with one another in one end position, and the drive shafting (3) with the propulsive device (1) associated with it can be moved past the motor in the other end position of the motor (2).
