  • Patent number: 9486317
Abstract: Methods of arthroscopic resurfacing of a joint utilizing a biological component strengthened with fibrin glue. The biological component is selected from the group consisting of PRP, bone marrow aspirate (BMA) and autologous conditioned plasma (ACP). The biological component/fibrin glue composition may be inserted (by injection or by employing a biologic resurfacing mold, for example) into a transosseous tunnel in the vicinity of the defect to be repaired. Upon insertion at the defect site, the biological component/fibrin glue composition is designed to coagulate and solidify within few minutes, to advance the healing of the damaged tissue and tissue growth. The biological component/fibrin glue composition may optionally comprise components such as growth factors, antiseptic chemicals and/or antibiotics and/or electrolytes, or hormones or site-specific hybrid proteins, among others.

  • Patent number: 9381022
Abstract: A rotary abrader allowing for improved visibility during surgery and improved aspiration of waste material. This is accomplished by providing a hood or sheath formed of a clear material and available in various shapes and sizes. The clear hood or sheath is also provided with a flattened, angled portion at a tip of the hood, to assist with retraction of the labral tissue while burring the glenoid rim. Slots are provided on the cannulated tube to provide aspiration of waste material and used to attach the hood to the cannulated tube.

  • Patent number: 9326844
Abstract: Techniques and reconstruction systems for fixation of bone to bone, or soft tissue to bone, that allow a double-bundle type construct with only three tunnels, a single graft and individual tensioning in each of the three tunnels. Alternative double-bundle ACL/PCL fixation techniques are provided that employ a double-bundle type construct with only a single graft and three tunnels/sockets. The double-bundle ACL and PCL techniques and constructs allow individual tensioning of each of the bundles (e.g., tensioning of each of the anteromedial (AM) and posterolateral (PL) bundles of the ACL) and eliminate the need for additional fixation devices (for example, interference screws) to secure the bundles within the bone tunnels/sockets.

  • Patent number: 9226815
Abstract: A method and construct for joint repair in which attachment of a double bundle graft ligament approximates anatomic orientation using interference fixation in a single bone tunnel. The double bundle graft features separable strands. A threaded screw is inserted between the separable strands and provides interference fixation of the graft against radially opposing walls defining the bone tunnel. Attachment of the graft using separated strands more closely approximate the configuration of the native ligament. The resulting reconstruction exhibits mechanical functionality that more accurately mimics that of the intact joint, with a minimum of associated tissue morbidity.

  • Publication number: 20150313586
Abstract: A swivel suture anchor for knotless fixation of tissue. The suture anchor includes an anchor tip configured to capture suture, the anchor tip being rotatably received within a fixation device upon advancement of the fixation device over a shaft of the anchor tip. The anchor tip is configured to receive a suture to be anchor in bone without requiring suture knots. The anchor tip can be a conical metal tip which is self-punching and avoids the need for pre-drilling a hole in bone. The anchor tip includes a closed aperture to allow free sliding of a suture strand. The suture is secured in a hole in bone by inserting the anchor tip into bone, and advancing a fenestrated fixation device, such as a cannulated interference screw, over a shaft of the anchor tip.

  • Patent number: 9146576
Abstract: A rotation mechanism (rotating device) that can be easily accessed by the surgeon's finger to rotate an endoscope or similar instrument. The rotation mechanism is a device/component with a “starfish” configuration, which can be attached to the endoscope/arthroscope just distal to the eyepiece (or to an alternate attachment to a camera). The starfish component has a plurality of projections that extend radially from the endoscope axis, and beyond the diameter of the mechanism on the camera head that grasps the arthroscope eyecup. The projections can be easily accessed by the surgeon's finger to rotate the endoscope.

  • Publication number: 20150216541
Abstract: An arthroscopic drill guiding system for drilling a hole into a bone comprises an arthroscopic pointing device, a drill sensor and an indicator. The pointing device has a shaft with a distal section and at least one navigation sensor for locating a target position distally at the bone. The drill sensor is coupled to a drill and provides information about the position and/or direction of the drill. The indicator indicates the relative position of the drill with respect to the target position, thus allowing to align the drill with the target position.
