Patent number: 7347871Abstract: A breast prosthesis fabricated from silicone and characterized by an outer shell shaped region and an inner shall-shaped region wherein the inner region is profiled in the form of rings arranged concentrically around the mamilla. The rings may be formed bellows-like adapted to be pushed toward one another when pressure is exerted on the prosthesis. Annularly shaped recesses and beads may be arranged between the rings. The inner region may consist of lower density silicone gel having a firmness of lower penetration value but firmer than the outer region. Preferably, the outer region is slightly thicker above the manilla than below the manilla, and may have a third shell shaped region arranged between the outer and inner shell shaped regions. A recess can be provided in the lower part of the prosthesis to define an air cushion for permitting silent release of air from the prosthesis responsive to pressure applied against the prosthesis.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2005Date of Patent: March 25, 2008Assignee: THAMERT Orthopadische Hifsmittel GmbH & Co. KGInventor: Reinhold Schneider-Nieskens

Patent number: 7122054Abstract: A breast prosthesis has an adhesive element which forms a continuous surface conforming to the back section of the prosthesis which faces the user. One side of the adhesive element is detachably secured to the back section of the prosthesis and the other side of the adhesive element is detachably adhered to the user. The adhesive element is formed from an inner body which is lined with material. The breast prosthesis has a flat annular region on its back section and an elevated edge along the perimeter of the flat annular region. A gap is provided in the elevated edge at an upper region of the prosthesis. The adhesive element extends to the inner surface of the elevated edge and has a projection conforming to the gap.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2003Date of Patent: October 17, 2006Assignee: Thämert Orthopädische Hilfsmittel GmbH & Co. Patent number: 6627306Abstract: A soft elastic cushion for use in conjunction with an orthopedic aid has a textile composite comprising at least two layers arranged on the soft elastic cushion. It is possible in this way to secure a textile cover on a soft elastic substrate such as silicone.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2001Date of Patent: September 30, 2003Assignee: Thämert Orthopädische Hilfsmittel GmbH & Co. KGInventor: Reinhold Schneider-Nieskens

Patent number: 6550481Abstract: A method of producing cushions having soft elastic inserts for use with orthopedic devices, comprising placing a cushion on a supporting surface and pouring a free-flowing material into the cushion to form the insert. The free-flowing material is then solidified, producing a soft elastic insert and is simultaneously secured to the cushion.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2000Date of Patent: April 22, 2003Assignee: Thämert Orthopädische Hilfsmittel GmbH & Co. Patent number: 6066220Abstract: A process for producing a breast prosthesis having substantially cup-shaped prosthesis body. The first step in the process includes placing at least two plastic foils on top of each other. The next step involves shaping these foils into a pouch-like container. Once the pouch like container is formed, the edges of each plastic foil are joined to form at least two chambers. Next, at least one chamber is filled with material wherein the first material in the chamber is partially vulcanized. The second chamber is then filled with a second material. Finally, the prosthesis is cured in a molding die.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1998Date of Patent: May 23, 2000Assignee: Thamert Orthopadische Hilfsmittel GmbH & Co.
