  • Publication number: 20170270444
Abstract: In one implementation, a method comprises receiving an objective of a business, searching an application repository to automatically identify an application in the application repository that is associated with the received objectives, receiving metrics for the application and outputting an objective evaluation of the application based on the received metrics and the received objectives. In one implementation, usage of a plurality of applications is monitored to identify usage patterns for each of the plurality of applications. The identified usage patterns are compared with received business objectives and an objective evaluation is output for each of the applications based upon the comparison, the objective evaluation serving as a basis for maintaining, discontinuing or re-architecting the applications.

  • Patent number: 8554593
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for measuring and assessing an organization's business adaptability is provided. In one embodiment, a taxonomy comprising a hierarchical list of taxonomy indicators that captures organizational elements that can be used to measure an organization's responsiveness to change is created. The taxonomy indicators are industry specific. A set of weights associated with the elements of the taxonomy, indicating a relevant contribution of each element to an overall adaptability of an organization, is assigned. The set of weights are industry specific. An enterprise profile is created assigning a level of adaptability to each taxonomy indicator indicating where, in a range of scores from low to high, an enterprise rates relative to the relevant taxonomy indicator. An adaptability result of the organization from the weights, taxonomy, and enterprise profile is then calculated. The adaptability result provides a quantitative assessment of the organization's adaptability.

  • Patent number: 8321247
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for determining a business level metric for assessing the impact of performance degradation of IT components upon the revenue stream of an entity is provided. In one embodiment, the business level metric is determined by determining business functions that comprises a revenue stream for a line of business. Weights are then assigned to each business function, wherein the weights indicate the relative importance of each business function in relation to the other business functions. For each business function, the business processes that enable the completion of a specific business function are determined and weights. For each business process, critical service points for measuring the performance of supporting information technology components for the business process are determined and weights are assigned. The critical service points are then monitored and a partial business level metric raw score is determined.

  • Patent number: 6970803
Abstract: Techniques are described for determining the complexity of a computing environment. The techniques include developing a model for the complexity of a computing environment based on the quantity of particular elements of the computing environment. The model includes two statistical weights for each element in the complexity model. One statistical weight is applied to each element to provide a complexity rating of the element. Another statistical weight is applied to each element to provide a complexity rating across all elements.

  • Patent number: 5864660
Abstract: A computing system (10) includes elements (12-24) interfacing at integration points (26-47). One or more of the elements (12-24) may be associated with one or more testing tables. For example, a testing table (48) may include a test procedure (54) and several corresponding test codes (54a, 54b, 54c) associated with alternate product configurations (12a, 12b, 12c) that satisfy the functional requirements of an element (12). The testing tables in the computing system (10) provide a systematic and standardized scheme for defining, creating, modifying, and adapting integration test code.
