  • Publication number: 20200326888
Abstract: An apparatus, in response to a data write request, writes target data to a first memory. During data movement from the first memory to a second memory, the apparatus stores first data included in the target data in the first memory, stores second data obtained by excluding the first data from the target data in the second memory, and deletes the second data from the first memory. In response to a data read request from a data requesting source, the apparatus reads the first data from the first memory and transfers the first data to the data requesting source while moving the second data from the second memory to the first memory.

  • Publication number: 20160357479
Abstract: A storage control apparatus is provided that includes a storage unit and a control unit. The storage unit is configured to store management information indicating a formatting status of each of a plurality of partitions included in a storage area. The control unit is configured to perform a procedure including: upon receiving a write request to write first data to the storage area, determining whether a partition including a region to which the first data is to be written is formatted, based on the management information; and when the partition is unformatted, generating third data with a size that matches a size of the partition by combining the first data and predetermined second data, and writing the third data to the partition.

  • Publication number: 20160070490
Abstract: A storage control device includes a processor. The processor is configured to acquire history information on access to multiple logical volumes which are configured using multiple storage devices. The processor is configured to determine from among the multiple logical volumes, on basis of the acquired history information, a preferred logical volume on which restoration processing is preferentially performed. The processor is configured to restore the preferred logical volume stored in a first storage device to be restored among the multiple storage devices into a spare storage device other than the multiple storage devices using restoration data read from the multiple storage devices except for the first storage device.

  • Patent number: 8819364
Abstract: An acquisition unit of an information processing apparatus acquires access information indicating the state of access to a volume of a disk device at least for data read. A determination unit detects a volume in which a sequential read was performed, on the basis of the acquired access information, and determines the volume as a backup source for a backup.

  • Publication number: 20140082308
Abstract: According to an aspect of the present invention, provided is a storage control device including a processor. The processor monitors a load value of a first storage device or a second storage device during copy processing in which a copy of data stored in the first storage device is stored in the second storage device. The processor controls, in a case where the load value exceeds a predetermined threshold, the first storage device and the second storage device so that input/output processing to/from the second storage device is executed with priority over the copy processing.

  • Patent number: 8238204
Abstract: In order to facilitate the management of the hardware key of a library apparatus employing the LTO system, a write function of a noncontact memory (CM: cartridge memory) contained in an LTO tape cartridge is implemented in a medium carrying mechanism part of the library apparatus, and during an insertion to a tape drive, the IDs unique to a library control part and to the medium carrying mechanism part are recorded in the non-contact memory and utilized as the hardware key of an encrypting apparatus. The hardware key written once is overwritten (erased) during an ejection, thereby preventing leakage of key information.

  • Publication number: 20110202716
Abstract: A storage system includes: storage devices storing data and varying in data-writing speed; a cash memory storing the write data until the write data is written to the storage device; a storage section that stores the write data received from an external device in the cash memory; and a writing section that takes the write data from the cash memory and writes the taken write data to the storage device. The storage section stores the write data received from the external device, in a storage area according to the type of the storage device to which the write data is to be written, among storage areas resulting from division according to the types of the storage devices. The writing section sequentially takes the write data from the storage area sequentially selected from among the storage areas on the cash memory and writes the taken data to the storage device.
