    Abstract: A screw press liquid separator includes an elongated housing having an inlet end and a discharge end, a screw cradle in the form of a sieve disposed within the housing and having a bulk material inlet disposed at the inlet end of the housing, at least one section of the screw cradle mechanically coupled to a vibrator motor, a screw formed on a shaft and disposed within the screw cradle, the screw extending from the inlet end of the screw cradle to a discharge end of the screw cradle, a motor rotatably coupled to the shaft, and pair of opposing discharge doors pivotally mounted to the discharge end of the housing and movable between an opened position and a closed position, the discharge doors driven to positions that maintain a substantially constant pressure on bulk material being driven by the screw towards the discharge end of the housing.

A second portion of the screw extends to a discharge end and is completely surrounded by a compression portion of the cradle. A first portion of the shaft has a first diameter extending the length of the screw, and a second portion of the shaft within the compression portion and extending past the output end of the screw has a second larger diameter. A transition portion of the shaft tapers from the second diameter to the first diameter. Discharge guides extend from the discharge end of the housing. Discharge doors are pivotally mounted to the discharge end of the housing and are biased to close against the discharge end of the housing. Paddles radially extend from the shaft outside of the discharge doors.

A slot sieve extends between and supported at opposing side edges of the housing and is suspended above the liquid channel, the slot sieve including a vibration zone and at least one reaction zone. A slurry delivery apparatus positioned to deliver slurry to the top end of the slot sieve. A liquid removal conduit fluidly coupled to the bottom of the liquid channel. A mechanical vibrator assembly is coupled to the vibration zone of the slot sieve to directly impart mechanical vibration to the reaction zone of the slot sieve and to couple the mechanical vibration to the at least one reaction zone of the slot sieve to dislodge solids from slots of the slot sieve.

A conveyor has a pickup end disposed below the downstream end of the trough and is positioned to catch solid debris that has been carried along by the paddles and convey the solid debris out of the slurry stream.
