  • Patent number: 7395816
Abstract: The evaporative emissions control device comprises a housing having an inlet connectable to a vent port of an evaporative emissions control canister and an outlet for venting to the atmosphere, the housing containing a carbon filter, a bypass passage, and a valve for selectively closing the bypass passage and/or outlet. In a first operating state the valve closes the bypass passage and opens the outlet, whereby gases from the vent port of the canister pass through the adsorbent material before the air is released via the outlet port. In a second operating state the valve opens both the outlet and the bypass passage, whereby the gases can bypass the adsorbent material to provide a high flow rate, for example during refuelling. In a third operating state the valve closes both the outlet and bypass passage, preventing the release of any fuel vapour through the outlet and into the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 7214258
Abstract: An evaporated fuel processing device (10), in particular for an internal combustion engine of an automotive vehicle, comprises a tank port (12) and an atmospheric port (22); a first adsorbent chamber (14) between the tank port (12) and the atmospheric port (22); and a second adsorbent chamber (18) between the first adsorbent chamber (14) and the atmospheric port (22), the first and second adsorbent chambers (14, 18) being filled with an adsorbent material (16). According to an important aspect of the invention, at least two elongate flow passages (26, 26?) are arranged in parallel between the first adsorbent chamber (14) and the second adsorbent chamber (18).

The volume compensator (24) comprises a base (34); a compacting plate (30); and a spring (32) arranged between the base (34) and the compacting plate (30). The volume compensator (24) further comprises resilient connecting means (36) connecting the compacting plate (30) to the base (34), the resilient connecting means (36) being formed in one piece with the compacting plate (30) and the base (34) and being arranged such that the spring (32) can be inserted between the base (34) and the compacting plate (30).
