    Abstract: Air contining objectionable gaseous or smoky materials is purified by contacting and reacting the objectionable substances with an aqueous solution of ozone. The solution may be acidic or alkaline and preferably contains about 0.1 to 10 grams of ozone per cubic meter of solution.The ozone and the substance to be treated may be injected simultaneously into the treating solution, and the treatment may be conducted by counter-current washing.
