  • Publication number: 20240130698
Abstract: A radiation shield is adapted to be disposed transversely across a subject supported on the surface of a procedure table to protect medical professionals working in front of the radiation shield from radiation being applied to the subject behind the radiation shield. The radiation shield includes a movable barrier positional to extend transversely across a subject supported on the surface of a procedure table. The barrier has a generally vertically-oriented lower section; a generally forwardly sloping intermediate section; and a generally vertically-oriented upper section, forwardly offset from the plane of the lower section. A side section extends outwardly and rearwardly from one side of the lower, intermediate, and upper sections of the barrier.

  • Patent number: 8739334
Abstract: An improved medical procedure table has motorized elevation, Trendelenburg tilt, floating tabletop with both longitudinal and lateral travel, multi-caster control, and an iso-roll device for the tabletop. The iso-roll device is connected between a roll plate and a cross plate. The iso-roll device includes a pair of iso-roll guide plates, which are mounted laterally to a bottom of the roll plate. Each iso-roll guide plate has an arcuate guide channel therein having an upwards concave shape. A set of cam followers are positioned in both guide channel and travel therein and also fixedly mounted to a base on the cross plate. A center of radius of the arcuate guide channel is approximately 5 inches above the tabletop. Further, mounted between the iso-roll guide plates and to the roll plate is a support guide plate having an arcuate bottom surface.

  • Patent number: 8474835
Abstract: A mobile support cart has one or more extendable and foldable arms to position one or more monitors or devices mounted to the extendable arm. The arm is mounted to a vertical column that is supported by a linear rail system providing vertical guidance. An adjustable counterweight carriage rides on a second rail set and is connected to each column through a chain and pulley. Each chain and pulley is fully redundant with two chains attached to discrete mounting points on each counterweight carriage and to each column. The amount of counterweight applied can be adjusted within a given load range by adding additional plates/ballast to the counterweight carriage. When the load on the arm(s) are fully offset by ballast on the counter weight carriage the arms and payloads reach a “neutral buoyancy” condition. The system maintains the position once an operator has released them.

  • Publication number: 20090318795
Abstract: An imaging table is disclosed which allows for proper positioning of patients in a face down prone position. The table top includes an access hole towards the head of the table. Various modular components may be positioned within the access hole. The modular components are designed to fit with in the access hole so that a support surface may be above or below the top of the table. A modular component may be reversible, providing a support surface above the table in one position and below the table in another position. A hole may be formed in a support surface to fit the patient's face to ease breathing. A modular component is designed to be inserted into the table top access hole in order to use the table with a continuous, flat surface for treatment and/or imaging procedures in which a face down, prone position is not required.

  • Patent number: 4875227
Abstract: Apparatus and method for use in conjunction with an X-ray apparatus, for filtering scattered irradiation and enhancing recordation of unscattered irradiation transmitted through a subject exposed to an X-ray analysis beam. The apparatus includes a grid mechanism including filtration strips which filter scattered irradiation and obstruct unscattered irradiation from detection, a mechanism for recording an analog image of the subject from the detector, a mechanism for converting the analog image to an equivalent digital image, and a mechanism for reconstructing the image as if the unscattered irradiation absorbed by the grid were not obstructed from detection.

  • Patent number: 4653083
Abstract: An X-ray system has radiation carriage for an X-ray source and receptor and a table carriage for a patient. The radiation carriage moves along a circular track on a primary carriage which in turn is on a beam rotating on a standard so that a patient at the isocenter of the two circular movements can be X-rayed at adjusted angles from spherical loci. The beam also pivotally supports a table carriage so that as the patient is inclined with the table the adjusted angle of the radiation is maintained.

  • Patent number: 4541107
Abstract: An X-ray system includes an X-ray source directing X-radiation on a first path through a subject to an X-radiation receptor which responds to X-rays to direct light radiation on a secondary path to a light image plane. In either path or both paths is a rotating radiation-opaque mask having one or more spiral radio-transparent windows which sweep through the path as the mask rotates. Each spiral window may be formed by the overlap of coaxial spiral windows in superimposed masks which are relatively adjustable in phase to vary the window width.
