  • Patent number: 6582026
Abstract: A machine for cutting pavement, street curbs, bridge components, or sidewalks. The cutting apparatus is mounted on a truck body for transport and can be extended from the truck and supported directly on the ground for cutting. The cutting apparatus includes a rotary saw mounted on rails for mobility in all directions at different angles. The rails are supported on the ground by extendable supports, and the supports can be adjusted to allow the saw to b used on uneven ground.

  • Publication number: 20020024249
Abstract: A machine is disclosed, for cutting pavement such as a sidewalk, a side edge of a bridge, a curb of an highway or the like. This machine has a powered truck-like vehicle having a support base, and a cutting apparatus mounted on the base. The cutting apparatus has two spaced-apart cylindrical booms where each boom has one end pivotally mounted on the base and an opposite end. Each boom may tilt about its one end in a vertical plane. A supporting bar is mounted on the opposite ends of the cylindrical booms so as to be free to rotate about the cylindrical booms within a plane perpendicular to the cylindrical booms. The supporting bar is provided with two extendible, ground-contacting legs at each opposite end thereof for stabilizing the apparatus. A rail-structure-holding head is slidably mounted on each cylindrical boom so as to slide along the cylindrical boom and to be free to rotate about the cylindrical boom within a plane perpendicular to the cylindrical boom.

  • Patent number: 6158817
Abstract: A machine is disclosed, for making a groove into a ceiling, wall or floor. The machine has a powered truck-like vehicle having a support base and an apparatus mounted on the base. The apparatus has two parallel spaced-apart booms pivotally mounted on the base and a holding head slidably mounted on each boom. An elongated main rail mounted on the heads in such a way that it may rotate about a longitudinal axis parallel to itself. A saw carrier is mounted on the main rail and a motorized saw is mounted on the saw carrier. The saw carrier can move along the main rail and the saw can be displaced on the saw carrier in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The main rail is mounted on the heads with curved support members which are each pivotally connected to the respective head for rotation about the longitudinal axis. Each curved support member has a first end on which the main rail is mounted, so as to allow the main rail to pivot about a transversal axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 5421669
Abstract: Disclosed is a machine for making cavities in a roadway surface so as to install road markers which is particularly well adapted to make the required cavities in a very speedy and efficient manner, thereby reducing to the lowest extent the risk of traffic jams when the road markers are to be installed on a busy road or highway. The machine is part of a vehicle that can be driven along the road or the highway where the road markers are to be installed. It incudes a cutting device that can be moved laterally away from the vehicle up to the desired location, and then pressed downwardly after having been suitable adjusted to be properly levelled with the roadway surface. Such positioning and operation of the cutting device can be easily carried out by the driver of the vehicle from his or her cabin, thereby making the required cutting and subsequent installation of the road markers very fast to complete.

  • Patent number: 5230270
Abstract: A machine for cutting concrete blocks especially continuously molded, highway dividing barriers of the New Jersey type, in a very fast and easy manner. The machine is mounted on a support base forming part of a powered truck-like vehicle and includes a primary extensible boom that is mounted on the support base so as to extend horizontally laterally thereof and be adjustably tiltable about its longitudinal axis. The machine also includes a secondary extensible boom that is mounted on the extensible end of the primary boom. Both of these booms extend in a same plane, and the secondary boom is downwardly tiltable about an axis transversal to both of the primary and secondary booms. A rotary, concrete-cutting saw assembly is mounted at the bottom end of the secondary boom. This assembly includes a saw blade that extends parallel to the plane in which said primary and secondary booms extend.

  • Patent number: 4832412
Abstract: There is disclosed a powered truck-like vehicle having a support base at the back and an apparatus for cutting street or road pavement. A length-wise-extensible boom is mounted at one end on the base so that it can extend laterally of the vehicle. An elongated rail structure is mounted on the other end of the boom in a manner such that it can be moved alongside the boom. A saw carrier, mounted on the rail structure so that it can be displaced along it, is provided with a rotary pavement cutting saw that can be displaced relative to the rail structure to cut pavement. The vehicle may further comprise a second lengthwise-extensible boom fixed to the base so as to project laterally from it at right angle to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4433871
Abstract: Machine including a powered truck-like vehicle having a support base at the rear end and an apparatus for cutting a drive-in passage across a concrete curbstone, a sidewalk or the like. The apparatus is mounted on the base and essentially comprises two spaced parallel booms mounted at one end on the base and an elongated bridge structure extending between and perpendicularly to the booms, being connected to them and provided with a drive so that it can be displaced along the booms with respect to the support base of the vehicle. The booms and bridge structure are pivoted from an inoperative position where the bridge structure is above the support base to an operative position where the booms and bridge structure are swung outwardly of the support base in a position for cutting the curbstone, sidewalk or the like.
