  • Publication number: 20100277554
Abstract: An ink cartridge (10) having an ink reservoir which delimits in a first chamber (17) a free-ink volume (16) and in a second chamber (18) a capillary volume (15), the two chambers (17, 18) each being arranged to admit air by way of a respective opening (23, 24) and being in fluidic connection with one another by way of a passageway (22), and there being an ink outlet (21) associated with the chamber (18) delimiting the capillary volume (15). Capillary-increasing means (32) are associated with the passageway (22) between the two chambers (17, 18) on the side facing the capillary volume (15).

A bubble generator is provided in the form of a dip tube (29) which dips into the free-ink volume (16) and is connectible to the external environment and at the distal end of which there is formed at least one opening (30) for the introduction of air bubbles.

  • Publication number: 20100013897
Abstract: Ink cartridge (10) for inkjet printers having a vent hole (17) between ink reservoir (20) and the environment (21), and having a valve (22) associated with an ink outlet (11), which valve is arranged to be brought against the action of a resilient element (6) from a closed position into an open position when the ink cartridge is inserted into the printer, and vice versa. The valve (22) associated with the ink outlet (11) is coupled in such a manner to a valve (23) associated with the vent hole (17) that, when the ink cartridge is inserted into the printer, ink outlet (11) and vent hole (17) are opened in succession, and vice versa when the ink cartridge (10) is removed from the printer.

  • Publication number: 20050018014
Abstract: An ink cartridge is disclosed for insertion into a cartridge receptacle of an inkjet printer. The ink cartridge, on one side wall, has a locking snap member, which protrudes from the side wall and on which a detent edge is embodied, with which the locking snap member can be locked to a locking opening, provided on the cartridge receptacle, in its locking position for locking the ink cartridge in the cartridge receptacle. The locking snap member has a hinged portion, which with its pivot axis extends approximately parallel to the introduction plane (E) of the ink cartridge, in which the ink cartridge is to be inserted into the cartridge receptacle. The hinged portion is adjoined by a detent portion, on which a detent edge extending transversely to the introduction plane (E) is embodied.

  • Patent number: 5917525
Abstract: The ink cartridge comprises a housing with a housing bottom (11) which has an opening for placement onto a stub feed tube of a print head. At the lower edge the opening (15), there is a radially inward projecting sealing lip (24) which is pressed elastically against a cylindrical element (27) of a transport guard (2). Between the cylindrical element (27) and lip (24), there is formed a capillary sealing gap which expands in the downward direction. An annular recess (36) which narrows toward the recess bottom, and a capillary gap (35) form additional steps of a capillary seal. The air supply opening in the housing lid is also sealed by means of a multi-step capillary seal against the escape of ink. This facilitates economical production.
