  • Publication number: 20130180670
Abstract: A drape is made from a series of strips of material arranged side by side and attached together in a manner so that each pair of adjacent lengthwise sides of each strip when joined together form a tab. Each strip has a sharp lengthwise pleat substantially parallel to and between the sides of the strip such that the drape has a series of sharp folds projecting outward on the front of the drape and a series of tabs projecting outward from the back of the drape.

  • Publication number: 20130180669
Abstract: In a cellular material a first panel having a series of lengthwise accordion folds across the width of the panel, alternate folds projecting toward the front of the panel and the back of the panel is attached to a second panel of material in a manner to create a series of P-shaped cells having a back, an upper cell wall and a lower cell wall in which the upper cell wall and the lower cell wall are curved in a same direction.

  • Publication number: 20120273138
Abstract: An expandable and contractable shade assembly includes a plurality of closed cell structures aligned vertically one above another with juncture lines defined between adjacent structures. A lift system is configured for vertically drawing the closed cell structures from the fully expanded configuration into a fully contracted configuration, and includes a plurality of lift cords that are attached to back faces of the closed cell structures and lie along a vertical line of action rearward of the closed cell structures. In the fully contracted configuration of the shade assembly, the closed cell structures collapse into a flat profile and hang from the lift cords in a vertical and adjacently disposed orientation whereby upper edges of the collapsed closed cell structures are adjacent and oriented in an upward vertical direction, and bottom edges of the collapsed closed cell structures are adjacent and oriented in a downward vertical direction.

  • Patent number: 8225840
Abstract: A cord lock for window coverings has one or more cams adjacent a locking surface over which a one or more lift cords travel. The cams may be spring biased to a locked position in which they press the lift cords against the surface. A release member through which the lift cords pass is provided. Transverse movement of any cord passing through an opening in the release member moves the release member from a first position, in which the cam or cams are in the locked position, to a second position at which a cam engaging portion of the release member engages the cam and the cam is in the unlocked position. Movement of the release member from the first position to the second position maintains the cam in the unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 8056600
Abstract: A tabbed honeycomb structure or pleated panel is made from a stack of collapsed multi-cellular material. The stack is split at bond lines thereby forming the panels of pleated or honeycomb material having a joint tab on one face.

  • Patent number: 7981235
Abstract: A cellular structure is formed on a wheel from an elongated tubular structure. At least one longitudinal line of a slow cure adhesive is applied to the exterior surface of the elongated tubular material. Then the material is wrapped around a collector in a manner to cause the adhesive to be positioned between overlying surfaces of the elongated tubular material and to form a cellular structure on the collector. The cellular structure is cut from the collector before the adhesive has fully cured and is placed on a flat surface where the adhesive has fully cured.

  • Patent number: 7980288
Abstract: A window covering has a transparent front face and optional transparent back face, either or both of which are formed from a series of spaced apart parallel threads, and a series of vanes attached to the faces. The parallel threads which form the front face and optional back face are spaced apart an amount which allows light to readily pass while providing a soft fabric like appearance. The vanes have a light filtering or light impeding property and may be opaque. The front and back longitudinal edges of each slat are respectively attached to the front face and any back face that is present. The resulting structure, when combined with a hardware system, is a light control blind. Movement of the vanes from a position perpendicular to the front face and any back face to a position generally parallel to the front controls the amount of light which is admitted through the window covering. An additional layer of fabric may be provided opposite the front face or the back face.

  • Patent number: 7833368
Abstract: In a method for making a window covering the user selects a first segment of cellular material in which there is a top cell having a top surface, at least one glue line on the top surface and a strip of fabric on the at least one glue line. The strip of fabric and at least a portion of the glue line are removed from the top surface of the top cell. and a second glue line is applied to that top surface. A second segment of cellular material is place over the second glue line on the top surface of the top cell of the first segment. The glue line cures and bonds the second segment of cellular material to the first segment of cellular material. If the cellular material has tabbed cells the processes can be used to join the tabs of the two segments together.

  • Patent number: 7779881
Abstract: A machine for making collapsible cellular structures folds two fabric webs into a V-shape or C-shape, connects the webs together with strands of adhesive, applies glue lines and collects the webs on a wheel. A variable speed motor, a fabric drive system which enables glue to be applied when the fabric is not stretched and a lay-on wheel assembly with movable arm that directs the fabric onto the collector can be provided in the machine.

  • Publication number: 20080149279
Abstract: A window covering sampling device has a plurality of different segments of at least one window covering material connected in series to form a sample panel. In one embodiment, indicia are located on at least one segment to identify at least one of the several different segments. In another embodiment, at least one label, strip or hang tag is attached to at least one segment and contains indicia to identify at least one of the plurality of different segments. In yet another disclosed embodiment, a kit having a plurality of different segments of at least one window covering material is connected in series to form a sample panel and a separate segment identifier is provided in the kit. A device for mounting the sample panel over a window may be attached to one of the segments.
