  • Patent number: 7668050
Abstract: A tracking error control system includes a tracking error signal generator in communication with an optical pickup head, a DC detector in communication with the tracking error signal generator and a comparator in communication with the DC detector and the tracking error signal generator. The operating optical signals received by the optical pickup head are operated with an offset signal to generate a tracking error signal. A direct current voltage of the tracking error signal is detected and compared with a reference voltage. The offset signal is adjusted according to the comparison result and fed back to the tracking error signal generator to adjust the tracking error signal.

  • Publication number: 20070002712
Abstract: A method for detecting an unbalanced disc in a disc reading apparatus includes the following steps. Firstly, a disc is loaded into the disc reading apparatus. Then, a start-up procedure is performed at a first rotating speed. After the start-up procedure is completed, the disc reading apparatus enters a ready-to-read state. In the ready-to-read state, an unbalanced disc detection procedure is performed by detecting a vibration degree of the disc at a second rotating speed greater than the first rotating speed. Afterward, it is determined whether the disc is an unbalanced disc according to the vibration degree of the disc.

  • Publication number: 20060120230
Abstract: In a writing control method of an optical recording/reproducing apparatus, a data-writing operation is performed at a rotating speed. Meanwhile, an error signal is generated in response to a wobble signal. The error signal is periodically sampled. A counting value is obtained by accumulatively counting whenever the level of the error signal exceeds a threshold. The subsequent data-writing operation is performed at an increased rotating speed when the accumulatively counting value obtained within a preset period of time is no greater than a first preset value. The error signal can be a tracking error signal and/or a focusing error signal.

  • Publication number: 20050195718
Abstract: A method for controlling a rotating speed of a disc for use in a disc reading apparatus includes the following steps. Firstly, the disc is loaded into the disc reading apparatus. Then, a start-up procedure is executed to discriminate whether to hoist a defect flag. Then, a ready-to-read state is entered to discriminate whether the defect flag is hoisted or not. Afterward, a reading procedure at a substantially constant rotating speed of the disc is executed if the defect flag is hoisted.

  • Publication number: 20050141352
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of improving seeking precision by adjusting the track to photo ratio in an optical disc drive. After a disk is tray in, the number of photos detected by the optical disk drive is pre-calculated when the optical pickup module is to seek a predetermined number of tracks. The actual number of seeking tracks performed by the optical pickup module is calculated after the optical disk drive has detected the pre-calculated number of photos. Thereafter an optimal track to photo ratio is obtained.

  • Publication number: 20050141362
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of improving seeking precision in an optical disk drive. Determine whether or not a center error signal is within a predetermined range when a short seek command is issued by the servo system. If not, the seek function is executed after a predetermined time.
