    Abstract: A display device has a backlight module with a plurality of light-emitting units. The light-emitting units are divided into a plurality of groups, and each group constitutes a lighting region. A backlight compensation method includes performing a local dimming process according to a gamma value of a display device by a backlight module; obtaining an area peak luminance of each lighting area; selecting one of the lighting regions as a selected region; obtaining a regional average luminance value based on the area peak luminance of the selected region and the area peak luminance of other lighting regions adjacent to the selected region; obtaining a luminance adjustment ratio based on a partial peak ratio corresponding to the regional average luminance value; obtaining a compensation luminance value based on the luminance peak value and the luminance adjustment ratio; and adjusting the luminance of the selected region based on the compensation luminance value.

    Abstract: A display and a backlight compensation method thereof are provided, wherein the display includes a backlight unit and a driving unit, and the backlight compensation method includes: providing a gamma value of the display; performing local dimming of the backlight unit according to the gamma value; obtaining an area peak luminance of each area in the backlight unit; obtaining a windows size of the backlight unit and a corresponding luminance dependency of windows size; obtaining, by the driving unit, a first display luminance corresponding to each area in the backlight unit according to a product of the area peak luminance of each area and the luminance dependency of windows size; and performing luminance compensation in each area of the backlight unit according to the first display luminance. A backlight compensation method that maintains optical quality is achieved, which can maintain brightness and gamma values under different windows sizes.

    Abstract: The invention provides a backlight control method for a display system. The display system has a backlight module, and a light-emitting surface of the backlight module is divided into a plurality of light-emitting areas, and each light-emitting area corresponds to at least one light-emitting unit. The backlight control method includes the following steps: receiving an input image data from the display module of the display system; performing a local dimming procedure on the backlight module according to the input image data, wherein the light-emitting unit corresponding to each light-emitting area has a local dimming value; obtaining area peak luminance of each light-emitting area; determining a compensation area peak luminance of each light-emitting area according to a brightness enhancement comparison table and the peak brightness values of the light-emitting areas; and applying each compensation area peak luminance to each corresponding light-emitting area of backlight module.

The substrate is subjected to a cleaning process.
