  • Patent number: 7582256
Abstract: The invention relates to an appliance for the continuous photocatalytic purification of the air in a room, said appliance preferably being in the form of a wall (1) and comprising an external steel structure, an opening (11) for the admission of the air to be processed, an internal metallic framework (4) to which a plurality of UVA lamps (3) are fixed, a photocatalytic filter (2), and an opening (12) for discharging the purified air. The inventive appliance is characterised in that the photocatalytic filter comprises at least one metal grating (2) covered by a film containing titanium dioxide (TiO2), mainly in an anatase phase, in order to maximise the surface of the photocatalyst illuminated by the UVA light.

  • Patent number: 6835470
Abstract: An electroluminescent device comprising two electrodes (3, 5) whereby at least one organic electroluminescent semiconducting layer (4) is arranged therebetween, in addition to a substrate (2) supporting said device, and an electric current source (1) which is electroconductively linked to said electrodes. The inventive device is characterized in that substrate (2) is made or a metal or metal alloy.

  • Patent number: 6485615
Abstract: A process of depositing a coating (5) onto a substrate (3) by reactive sputtering in a closed chamber (1) in the presence of a plasma of a non-reactive gas, and a reactive gas containing the element or elements said coating has to be made of, according to which process use is made of a target (2) having a surface layer (4) directed towards the substrate and containing at least one of the elements to be sputter deposited onto this substrate, according to which process the thickness of said surface layer (4) during the cathode sputtering is controlled by adjusting the concentration of the gases in said closed chamber (1). The single figure.

  • Patent number: 4830665
Abstract: A process for preparing alloyed or non-alloyed, reactive metals by reaction of halides thereof, in particular chlorides, with a reducing agent at a temperature higher than the melting temperature of the metal to be developed, comprises solidifying the developed metal while maintaining in the reaction zone wherein the reduction proceeds, a layer of this metal in the liquid state, at a temperature higher than the boiling or sublimation temperature of the other reaction products at the pressure at which the reduction develops, these other reaction products being substantially continuously discharged in the gaseous state.

  • Patent number: 4559123
Abstract: There is described a device for electrolytically depositing, in a continuous operation and under a high current density, a lining metal layer over at least the one surface of a metal strip moving through an electrolytic bath, comprising at least one conducting roller cooperating with a cathode current supply, extending cross-wise relative to the strip movement direction and rotating about the axis thereof, in contact with the strip, substantially at the same circumferential speed as the traversing speed thereof, at least one anode being provided in the electrolytic bath facing at least the one surface of the strip moving through said bath, device in which said conducting roller is at least partly hollow, and the cathode current supply comprises a series of parallel-connected contacts which are distributed over that inner cylinder-like surface of the roller which lies opposite that outer surface portion the strip is applied on.

  • Patent number: 4326942
Abstract: There is described a method for electrolyzing and particularly electrorefining metals such as copper, by circulating the electrolyte through channels formed between substantially parallel electrodes arranged some distance away from one another, in which a substantially uniform electrolyte flow rate is retained at least at the inlet to the channels between the electrodes, independently from the cathode thickness increase and the anode thickness decrease during the electrorefining.A device for working this method is also described.

  • Patent number: 4304653
Abstract: There is described a method for continuously electrodepositing with high current density, a coating metal on a metal sheet, which comprises moving by means of a movable cathode the metal sheet pressed thereagainst, in front of an anode inside a zone that comprises an electrolyte for transferring the coating metal, in which the cathode current is distributed uniformly over that portion of the metal sheet which moves in the area for metal transfer to the cathode in such a way as to cause a current density which is substantially equal in every point of said sheet portion.
