  • Publication number: 20120248099
Abstract: An enclosed offshore tank for storing crude oil in a flowable form where the problems associated with flow assurance are prevented. The enclosed offshore tank includes a floor, an insulated cover and perimeter wall secured to a floor forming the offshore tank. The enclosed offshore tank can include a means of floor heating, wherein the floor is provided with piping which receives heated fluid to heat the crude oil. The perimeter wall can have an inner wall and an outer wall forming an annulus, wherein a heated fluid from a heating source fills the annulus to heat the crude oil. A microwave heating system can include at least one microwave generator, at least one waveguide and at least one radiating element to indirectly heat crude oil in the offshore tank.

  • Publication number: 20100150660
Abstract: The present invention relates to an offshore oil production platform. The platform includes a deck (12) and a sub-structure (10) comprising plurality of ballast chambers (20) and at least one of connecting leg (16) connected from the ballast chambers (20) to the deck (12). The ballast chambers (20) include at least one oil storage compartment (22), at least one ballast compartment (24) and at least one air pressure compartment (26). The oil and gas storage compartment (22) is for storing processed oil and gas. During installation of the platform, the ballast chambers (20) are ballasted with sea water (46) which allows lowering of the connecting legs (16) towards the sea bed (34). After the ballast chambers (20) reach the sea bed (34), locking means is actuated to a locked position to prevent movement of the sub-structure (10) of the platform. The deck (12) is moved up to a predetermined height from sea level by jacking means.

  • Publication number: 20100135728
Abstract: The present invention relates to a mobile offshore oil drilling and production platform (10) that allows a field operator to cope with uncertainty and economically develop a small or marginal oil filed typically located in a remote location. More particularly, the invention relates to a versatile platform which includes a hull (12) extending above the level of sea to house hydrocarbon extracting and scale up or scale down hydrocarbon processing system modules and equipment with provisions to drill new wells and work-overs using modular portable vertical drilling rigs or conventional rigs, connected to a mat acting as the foundation resting on the seabed which may or may not incorporate storage, using tubular legs, and provision to even abandon the field with minimal costs and disruption. The present invention also relates to a method of installing and de-installing the oil drilling and production platform (10).

  • Patent number: 7472722
Abstract: The invention relates to a permanent method of repairing leaking, damaged, or weakened pipe by grit blasting the pipe (10), followed by wrapping it with a fiber reinforced composite material (12), then installing two half oversized steel sleeves (14). After that the non-gaseous matter is removed by fresh water and compressed air or inert gas. An epoxy or cementitious grout or combination of both is finally injected into annular chamber 20 of the sleeves through pre-installed inlet port (16) and outlet port (18). The epoxy or cementitious is then allowed to cure. The terminal end of the steel sleeves may be sealed using a pair end flanges (32) matingly securable to a pair of terminator bodies (45).

  • Patent number: 7168743
Abstract: An apparatus to seal terminal ends of the two half oversized sleeves, positionable on the external circumferential side of affected riser pipes. The apparatus comprises of a pair of flange bodies integral to the two half oversized sleeves and a pair of terminator bodies. Each flange body includes a semi-circular collar with a plurality of bores and a semi-circular lip. The terminator body includes a semi-circular collar with a plurality of bores and a semi-circular recess structured and configured to receive the respective semi-circular lip. Two semi-circular graphite strips are introducible into the semi-circular recess. The terminator body is secured against the flange body by tightening of nuts and bolts introduced between the bores in the flange body and the terminator body.
