  • Patent number: 7640717
Abstract: The invention relates to a counter element (22) being adapted to apply a pressure to a first portion of a packaging material in association with heating of the packaging material in order to seal the first portion of the packaging material to a second portion of the packaging material. The element (22) being provided with an abutment surface (23) adapted to at least abut said first portion of the packaging material. The abutment surface (23) is provided with a plurality of indentations (24) adapted to entrap fluid or gas present in the vicinity of the abutment surface (23) and the first portion of the packaging material. The inventions also relates to a method of providing a counter element (22) as described above.

  • Patent number: 4559259
Abstract: A packing laminate which is intended to be converted into packing containers is often provided with crease lines in order to facilitate folding and shaping. At the places where crease lines cross each other a multiple folding of the laminate takes place on conversion into packing containers which, among other things, means that small cracks are formed in the different material layers, so that the tightness of the packing container is put into jeopardy. In accordance with the invention, a packing laminate is proposed in which these difficulties are overcome by providing the laminate with specially designed auxiliary crease lines which in the region of the laminate, where the folding lines cross each other or meet, replace the (main) crease line guiding the folding line. The auxiliary crease lines are situated at such a distance from the main crease line that the folding line is not affected, that is to say, the folding line will after folding not coincide in any part with the auxiliary crease lines.

  • Patent number: 4511078
Abstract: A method for forming a packing laminate and a packing laminate are disclosed. The disclosed method provides crack-resistant packing laminates which can be folded during the preparation of packing containers without the formation of excessive cracking due to tensile stresses. Tensile stresses within the folded laminated layers are reduced by either cutting portions of the laminate in an area corresponding to the fold line, or removing portions of the laminate corresponding to the fold line.

  • Patent number: 4284228
Abstract: A packing container e.g. for sterile milk is manufactured from laminated material which is folded and sealed to the desired container shape. In the seal, cut surfaces facing towards the inside will occur which have to be sealed so as to prevent the central paper layer of the material from absorbing some of the contents. Usually this is done by means of a strip of a plastic material which is impermeable to liquid. When the packing material is sterilized and exposed to high temperatures these strips are often damaged, because the moisture present in the paper layer of the laminate is converted into vapor and penetrates the strip softened by the heat. In accordance with the invention the seal is now ventilated with the help of ducts extending through the seal in such a manner that the vapor can escape to the surrounding air without affecting the sealing strip which thus remains intact and can fulfil its intended sealing function.
