  • Patent number: 4675043
Abstract: The apparatus for manufacturing the ink jet glass tubes includes a vertical mandrel which receives the tubes one at a time from a feeder and rotates them relative to a pair of gas nozzles for their heating. The tube is heated in an axially limited intermediary zone so as to form an hour-glass shaped profile. The profile of the tube is scanned by a television camera which generates two signals indicative of the internal diameter. These are compared electronically with a stored indication of the desired diameter and the two nozzles are rotated into an inactive position when this diameter is reached. The tube is cut along a plane so as to make the profile of the nozzle coincident with a reference profile by a device including an optical device connected to a cutting wheel to permit comparison of the hour-glass profile of the element with the reference profile. The severed end of the tube is then lapped and covered with a non-wettable material.

  • Patent number: 4623904
Abstract: Mounted within a substantially hollow supporting and containing housing are tubes which communicate at one end with an ink reservoir and whose opposite ends are aligned with respective ink discharge nozzles provided in a plate member which faces the printing surface in use. The plate is mounted on the housing so as not to touch the ends of the tubes and with the interposition of yieldable sealing members. The tubes are mounted in the housing with the aid of a positioning tool the shape of which reproduces essentially the shape of the plate. A resin is subsequently poured into the housing and, after hardening, constitutes an elastic mass for retaining the tubes in the housing.

  • Patent number: 4393591
Abstract: An optical transducer for determining the angular position of a rotating member relative to a fixed structure, comprises a notched disc 13 rotatable inside a support housing 12, a light emitter 18 and a plurality of photovoltaic cells 19 for detecting the passage of light through the disc notches. The active and passive elements of an electronic circuit connected to the photovoltaic cells are carried by a single ceramic plate 21, which also acts as a support for the cells 19. The circuit comprises trimming resistors in the form of films deposited on the ceramic plate and connected to the amplifiers by the photovoltaic cells. In order for the signals generated by the amplifiers to have constant, predetermined peak values, the values of the resistors are trimmed during the production stage by means of a laser which selectively burns away parts thereof. The ceramic plate 21 is cemented on to the transducer housing 12, which is then positioned on the laser apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4385306
Abstract: The head is composed of a series of electrically conductive elements in one or more rows, which elements are selectively subjected to a high potential relative to the coacting electrode. The elements have a thickness of less than to 50.mu. and a pitch less than 100.mu.. The elements may be disposed in a plurality of rows on a cylindrical, rotatable head.In a modified embodiment the elements are disposed on the edge of a plate, in a row extending over the length of the line.

  • Patent number: 4130752
Abstract: A removably mountable electrothermal print head for writing dots-matrix characters while moving along a thermosensitive recording medium and a mounting for the hand or a movable carriage of a printer, the head comprises a plurality of electrically energizable resistive printing elements coated on a support; the outer surface of said elements is partly cylindrical with the generatrices in parallel relation with a common direction which is transversal with respect to the printing line of the recording medium. The print head is positioned with respect to the recording medium with the part-cylindrical outer surface of the resistive printing elements in tangential relation with the recording medium. The printing head is positioned on and removably fixed to the carriage by a manually actuatable latch.
