  • Patent number: 6036335
Abstract: A housing holds embedded in arrayed order along an axis (i) a conical first omni-directional reflector, (ii) a directional second reflector and a second LED, (iii) a directional first reflector and a first LED, and (iv) a conical second omni-directional reflector. Light from the first (second) LED as is in part reflected by the directional first (second) reflector is omni-directionally dispersed by the first (second) omni-directional reflector. All reflectors optionally serve as electrical connections to the LED's. A linear light constructed as a chain of these omni-directional LED lamps wired in electrical parallel may be easily cut to length. Other two and three-dimensional omni-directionally-illuminating lighting fixtures are possible, such as in the shape of crosses and stars and the six-pointed metal object used in the game of jacks.

  • Patent number: 6012842
Abstract: A convertible container is formed from (i) a collapsible foldable five-sided open-ended bag in the substantial shape of a rectilinear body preferably having handles for use as an object-carrying, or shopping, bag, in combination with (ii) a collapsible foldable five-sided lid affixed to the bag at its open end for unfolding between (1) a collapsed position interior to the bag and (2) an expanded position fitting over the bag's open end. The lid is of dimension A.times.B with three sides of width A/2, and with one, dual-creased, side which is joined to the bag at an extension of width A. The two creases are each folded in a first sense to fit the lid within the interior of the bag, and are each folded in an opposite, second, sense to fit the lid upon the bag's open end, forming thereby a six-sided closed package which may variously be used as gift wrap or for mailing or the like.

  • Patent number: 5836185
Abstract: Two parts telescope so as to selectively engage the steering wheel at a portion of its rim. A third part independently telescopes relative to the first two parts so as to span a remaining portion of the diameter of the steering wheel, and so as engage the rim of the wheel at a point opposite to the portion where are located the first and second parts. One single key lock suffices to lock all telescoping parts in position, selectively engaging or releasing the device from the steering wheel at two points. The impediment presented by the locked device to turning the steering wheel is not subject to being defeated merely by cutting through either the steering wheel, or the device itself, at any single location.

  • Patent number: 5747940
Abstract: A number of voltage and ground buses--normally four or more each of which respectively connects to groups of lights within a large number of lights that are typically both multicolored and regularly geometrically arrayed in two and three dimensions--are separately simultaneously selectively energized in order to produce dynamic decorative patterns of display, particularly for use as Christmas lights. Buses are preferably selectively enabled and energized in at least four major and ten or more minor combinations in order to, along with differences in sequencing and phasing and timing, produce great numbers of different display patterns, typically at least ten such patterns that are recognizable to an observer. The progressive displays of a great number of individual light arrays may be coordinated in both (i) synchronization, and (ii) repetition rate, by the simple expedients of (i) applying a.c.

  • Patent number: 5636538
Abstract: A vehicular steering wheel security device, having three major members A,B,C each of which is telescoping relative to the others, and also key locks for each of A-B and B-C, separately simultaneously locks onto a steering wheel at rim positions (i) at and about a point where a spoke joins the rim, and (i) from this point across the diameter of the steering wheel to an opposite point. An elongate central member preferably has a double hook that selectively engages and protects not only an interior portion arcuate portion of the steering wheel's rim, but also the steering wheel's spoke. First and second members having single hooks telescope relative to, respectively, first and second ends of the central member for selectively engaging, respectively, (i) the rim of the steering wheel in position about the spoke and (ii) the rim of the steering wheel opposite to the spoke.

  • Patent number: 5625606
Abstract: An enhanced case, strap or bracelet worn upon the wrist contains in separate cavities (i) a watch, calculator, telephone, radio or like device that, among other functions, keeps time, plus (ii) a writing, probing and/or pointing instrument. The case preferably houses a watch in its first cavity. Both (i) a double-ended instrument having a pen suitable for writing on one end, and a probe suitable for activating push button switches on the other end, and (ii) an electrical switch, are preferably housed in a second cavity having the shape of an elongate bore. Extraction or insertion of the instrument from the bore is sensed by the switch, and is electrically communicated to the watch to initiate a countdown timer. The interval of the countdown timer is preferably variably preset.

  • Patent number: 5245519
Abstract: An ornamental Christmas light decorating system containing one or more clusters of flashing lights, which can be shaped by a user and attached to various surfaces. The clusters provide a perception of directional movement or chasing of light.

  • Patent number: 5139261
Abstract: A controller electrically interfaced to a video game computer or the like for the purpose of controlling a progression of the video game or the like is selectively actuated by discrete motions and forces the locations, magnitudes, and orientations of which are variably predetermined by the user. Pressure, or proximity, sensor units, normally four in number, are independently placeable upon any surface, and normally upon a floor. The signals produced by the arbitrarily located pressure or proximity sensors are received by a video game control unit and used to produce electrical signals suitable to be received by a conventional video game computer or the like for the purpose of controlling the progression of the video game. An adjustable sensor cartridge assembly for use with a video game controller allows a user to selectively position the sensor within the collar's cavity and relative to the human user.

  • Patent number: 5127658
Abstract: Each of a plurality of toy vehicles is remotely-controllable by a single associated remote controller for movement, and for the emission of a directed light beam in simulation of gunfire. Each vehicle is sensitive to the directionally emitted light beams, or simulated gunfire, of other vehicles. Such sensitivity is normally sequentially periodic in quadrants circumferentially around the vehicle, providing an element of randomness, and timing, to the registration of simulated hits from the simulated gunfire of opposing vehicles. The vehicle indicates the number of successive hits sustained, and after a predetermined number, nominally three, such hits becomes disabled until manually reset. Two such vehicles, each under the individual control of an associated remote controller, may be used to simulate combat during war gaming.

Pressure, or proximity, sensor units, normally four in number, are independently placeable upon any surface, and normally upon a floor, in any desired pattern and over any desired area. An optional multi-channel hand-held remote control transmitter is affixed with a variable weight. The signals produced by the arbitrarily located pressure or proximity sensors, and by the optional hand-held transmitter, are received by a video game control unit and used to produce electrical signals suitable to be received by a conventional video game computer or the like for the purpose of controlling the progression of the video game.
