    Abstract: 2-(4-Isobutylphenyl)-propiohydroxamic acid is prepared by mixing anhydrous methanol with 2-(4-isobutylphenyl)-propionitrile, saturating the mixture with dry hydrogen chloride, reacting, diluting the reaction product with ethyl ether, reacting the precipitate with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in methanol and with 50% NaOH, stirring, diluting with water and precipitating with carbon dioxide.
