Publication number: 20250024407Abstract: This relates to a method for geolocating a terminal of a wireless communication system. The terminal detects one or more identifiers of neighbouring transmitting devices. The terminal sends the detected identifies in a message to an access network. A server of the access network determines, for each identifier, a score representative of the reliability of the identifier relative to a geolocation database. For this purpose, the server uses an identifier reliability database that stores identifiers of transmitting devices and their respective scores. The geolocation database stores identifiers of transmitting devices and their respective geographical positions. The server selects the identifiers having the best scores to geolocate the terminal using the geolocation database.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2022Publication date: January 16, 2025Inventors: Olivier ISSON, Renaud MARTY, Juan Carlos ZUNIGA, Julien BOITE

Patent number: 12105215Abstract: A method for geolocating a terminal of a wireless communication system. A set of reference elements is determined with the aid of messages transmitted by calibration terminals during a calibration phase. Each reference element includes a radio signature and a geographical position of a calibration terminal when a message is transmitted. A refinement phase makes it possible to clean and/or to enrich the set of reference elements by virtue of the identification of points of interest corresponding to preferential positions of transmission of messages by the terminals. During a search phase, the position of a terminal of interest is determined based on its radio signature and of the modified set of reference elements.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2018Date of Patent: October 1, 2024Assignee: UNABIZInventors: Olivier Isson, Renaud Marty

Patent number: 12055651Abstract: A method for geolocating a terminal of a wireless communication system from measurements of a parameter representative of a radio signal exchanged between the terminal and base stations of the communication system. The method uses fixed base stations and a mobile base station which is displaced in a determined search area. During a predefined search period, the terminal emits several radio signals to the fixed base stations and the mobile base station. A precise geographical position can then be determined, on the one hand, from the measurements carried out during the search period for the different base stations, and on the other hand, from the geographical positions of the fixed base stations and from the geographical positions of the mobile base station at the different times of emission of the radio signals by the terminal.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2020Date of Patent: August 6, 2024Assignee: SIGFOXInventors: Guillaume Larignon, Renaud Marty, Perrine Gissot, Olivier Isson

Publication number: 20240202219Abstract: Disclosed is a method for updating a database of a geolocation server using a wireless communication system. The database includes a table associating an identifier of a transmitting device with at least one piece of information on its geographical position. The communication system includes an access network and a terminal communicating with the access network and with the transmitting devices according to two distinct protocols. The terminal receives a message emitted by a transmitting device and including an identifier of the transmitting device. The terminal emits a message with this identifier to the access network. The access network determines a piece of information on the geographical position of the terminal. A consistency check is performed between the piece of position information of the terminal determined by the access network and the piece of position information present in the table. The table is updated based on the consistency check.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 13, 2022Publication date: June 20, 2024Inventors: Olivier ISSON, Renaud MARTY, Maxime TREGARO, Robert CHEVALLIER, Juan Carlos ZUNIGA, Julien BOITE

Publication number: 20240089902Abstract: A method for the geolocalization of a base station, referred to as the “sought base station”, of an access network of a wireless communication system. The wireless communication system also includes at least one terminal capable of transmitting messages bound for the access network. A message transmitted by a terminal can be received simultaneously by a plurality of base stations of the access network. The geographical position of the sought base station is determined as a function of the geographical position of at least one other base station of the access network, referred to as the “reference base station.” The geographical position of the reference base station is known. The reference base station having received a message transmitted by the terminal that has likewise been received by the sought base station.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2020Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Olivier ISSON, Renaud MARTY, Christophe JELOYAN

Publication number: 20240056222Abstract: In a wireless communication system, there is disclosed a method for decoding a frame transmitted by a transmitter device is executed by a receiver device. The method includes the following steps:—selecting one or more gateway stations likely to have detected, on a communication channel, a corrupted frame corresponding to the frame to be decoded, the selection being carried out such that, in order to be selected, a gateway station does not have communicate beforehand, to the receiver device, any item of information relating to the possibly detected corrupted frame in order;—sending a request to each selected gateway station in order to request the selected gateway station to transmit the possibly detected corrupted frame; and—combining the corrupted frames transmitted by the various selected gateway stations in order to decode the frame.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2021Publication date: February 15, 2024Inventors: Juan Carlos ZUNIGA, Arnaud MANSUY, Renaud MARTY

Patent number: 11442133Abstract: A method for estimating the geographical position of a terminal of interest, among a panel of terminals of a wireless communication system. For each terminal of the panel, a time signature including values measured for each terminal during a predetermined observation period is determined. Values of similarity between the time signatures of the terminals of the panel is calculated, a similarity value calculated for two terminals representing the probability of the terminals being moved together or having been located at the same place during the observation period. Various terminals of the panel are partitioned into different groups depending on the similarity values. The geographical position of the terminal of interest is estimated as a function of the available geolocation data for at least one other terminal of the group to which the terminal of interest belongs.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2019Date of Patent: September 13, 2022Assignee: SIGFOXInventors: Olivier Isson, Renaud Marty, Sofiane Dhouib
