  • Patent number: 10711983
Abstract: A luminaire that includes a housing having a downlight geometry and containing a light engine including light emitting diodes (LEDs), in which the light engine is positioned to emit light through a light emission end of the housing. The housing contains driver electronics for controlling power received by the luminaire for powering the light engine. An access opening on a back surface of the housing exposes the driver electronics. A junction box supporting at least a portion of a wireless control module. The junction box having an electrical pathway opening is engaged to the back surface of the housing. The wireless control module is contained in the knockout of the junction box. Electrical communication between the wireless control module and the driver circuit is across a physical electrically conductive pathway that extends through the electrical pathway opening of the junction box.

  • Patent number: 8581482
Abstract: A method of making a subassembly (10) for a PAR lamp (12) comprising the steps of: (a) providing a base (14) including a cup-shaped portion (16) with a top edge (18) having an extended flange (20) projecting therefrom; (b) providing a plurality of electrical contacts (22, 24) and inserting the contacts into appropriate locations (22a, 24a) in a bottom (26) of the cup-shaped portion (16); (c) providing a lamp capsule (28) including a light source (30) having dependent leads (32, 34) projecting from a base end (36); (d) inserting the base end (36) of the lamp capsule (28) into the cup-shaped portion (16) and affixing the dependent leads (32, 34) to the electrical contacts (22, 24); (e) providing a reflector (38) having a funnel-shaped body (40) with a substantially tubular neck (42); (f) filling the cup-shaped portion (16) with a liquid cement (44) to a depth that covers the base end (36) of the lamp capsule (28); (g) fitting the reflector (38) over the lamp capsule (28) so that the tubular neck (42) is submers

  • Patent number: 8110973
Abstract: An integrally ballasted lamp assembly (200) including a spacer disk (220) disposed in a lamp receptacle cavity (244) between a lamp (226) and the bottom (238) of the lamp receptacle (214). The disk (220) may be configured to contact connector clips (216, 218) coupled to the bottom (238) of the lamp receptacle to positively align the clips (216, 218) for connection to a ballast circuit disposed on a PCB (212). The disk (220) may also, or alternatively, at least partially occlude connector clip openings (402, 404) in the bottom (238) of the lamp receptacle (214) for hindering the flow of uncured cement (902) through the openings (402, 404), and may also, or alternatively, provide a thermal barrier between the lamp (226) and the lamp receptacle (214).
