  • Patent number: 6216100
Abstract: A method for the simulation of responses of a nonlinear amplifier provides for measuring characteristics of nonlinearity of amplitude and of amplitude/phase-shift conversion of the amplifier, each measurement being made at an amplitude that is constant in input. The method further includes measuring the characteristics at different frequencies, developing the characteristics in sequences of direct transfer functions, computing frequency correctors for the direct transfer functions, measuring characteristics of distortion of amplitude modulation, each measurement being performed by modulating the input amplitude, computing modulation transfer functions reproducing the distortion amplitudes at output according to the input modulation amplitudes and correcting the direct transfer functions when the input amplitude is modulated in order to simulate the envelope memory effect. There is a direct application of the invention to the field of the simulation of high efficiency microwave amplification.

  • Patent number: 4837583
Abstract: A device for adjusting the polarization of a rotatable-feed antenna with respect to a reference plane makes use for an angular reference device located near the feed-horn aperture. The angular reference device consists of a tilting mercury switch having spaced contacts bridged by a mass of mercury and rigidly fixed to the feed horn. The adjusting device includes a connector located at the rear of the antenna in a zone which is accessible for adjustment and a multiple-conductor cable establishing an electrical connection between the contacts and the connector in order to provide an electrical link between the angular reference device and a visual display device.

  • Patent number: 4379297
Abstract: An antenna, orientable in site and azimuth, is mechanically coupled to a carrying member containing the equipment required for operating the antenna. The antenna is coupled to the carrying member by a tubular assembly forming a right-angled triangle and incorporating: a rod substantially coinciding with a vertical edge of the carrying member and which serves as the vertical rotation axis; another rod perpendicular to the first-mentioned rod at its upper end and which is fixed to the antenna by two shaft bearings in order to act as the horizontal rotation axis. A first jack makes it possible to pivot the antenna about the horizontal axis. A second jack makes it possible to pivot the antenna, the tubular assembly and the first jack about the vertical axis.

  • Patent number: 4156629
Abstract: Process and apparatus for cooling the wall of the vessel of a fast neutron reactor comprising a main vessel which surrounds a second vessel containing the core and separating a volume of liquid metal contained in the main vessel into two regions called the hot collector and the cold collector respectively. The liquid metal drawn into the cold collector and passed through the core to the hot collector is circulated by means of pumps distributed around the core. A baffle and a counter-baffle are arranged concentrically to the main vessel wall and respectively define a first and second annular space issuing into the cold collector. The first annular space is traversed by a tapped flow of cooling liquid metal circulating from bottom to top in the first space in contact with the main vessel wall up to an upper constant level adjacent to the edge of the baffle.

  • Patent number: 4087325
Abstract: Integrated nuclear reactor cooled by a liquid metal and constituted by a n tank, which contains a central inner tank containing the core and the hot liquid metal, this inner tank being connected to individual cylindrical chambers each containing a heat exchanger wherein the surfaces of the inner tank and of the cylindrical chambers bulge radially outwards at the level of supply orifices for transferring the hot liquid metal from the inner tank to the heat exchangers and wherein the cylindrical chambers are fixed directly onto the inner tank by neck portions interconnecting the two bulges and providing a path for liquid metal flow.
