  • Patent number: 7571687
Abstract: A mobile destruction apparatus for use with oil contaminated with a toxic organic pollutant material includes a housing, which defines a first heating combustion chamber for heating the oil to generate a toxic fluid using a first burner connected thereto. The apparatus includes a rotating transition cylinder that defines a drying chamber, which is in fluid communication with the combustion chamber to receive the toxic fluid. The cylinder includes an amount of a desiccant material to dry the toxic fluid. A second heating destruction chamber is provided downstream of the cylinder to heat the toxic fluid to substantially convert it and destroy it into an inert fluid, which exhausts from the apparatus. A method of destructing toxic contaminants from contaminated oils is also described.

  • Patent number: 4654227
Abstract: An apparatus for tinning electronic components wherein a plurality of fingers are mounted on a closed loop carrier means for carrying the components through the various steps of the process. The fingers are actuated to move into and out of a component engaging position at different work stations.

  • Patent number: 4103716
Abstract: The present invention provides a selvage-forming device for use in a weaving apparatus, which selvage-forming device is of a relatively simple construction and yet effectively forms the selvage. The device comprises a rotatable plate upon which is mounted first and second supplies of thread. The thread from each supply of the same is preferably fed to a pre-guide member, through a guide means at the extremity of a tensioning arm, and through an aperture in the rotatable plate. The rotatable motion of the plate will cause the selvage threads to form the desired selvage.

  • Patent number: 4074727
Abstract: A liquid supply system and a nozzle construction for a jet weaving loom. The nozzle is supplied directly from a public water works at the normal pressure of said water works. The exact amount of water required to propel the weft yarn across the open harness shed of the loom is obtained by a solenoid valve series-connected to the water supply adjacent the nozzle and controlled by an electric pulsator which is adjustable to open the valve for the required time in accordance with the width of the weaving and the type of weft yarn. Synchronization of the operation of the nozzle with the harness motion is obtained by a switch controlling the pulsator and directly operated by a cam connected to a shaft of the main movement of the weaving loom.

  • Patent number: 5153508
Abstract: A method is described for determining the return stroke polarity of distant lightning for distances beyond 600 km by detecting the electric field associated with a return stroke of distant lightning, and processing the electric field signal to determine the polarity of the slow tail of the VLF waveform signal associated with the detected electric field. The polarity of the return stroke of distant lightning is determined based upon the polarity of the slow tail portion of the waveform.
