  • Patent number: 5083487
Abstract: An method and an apparatus for high speed cutting, a predetermined repetitive pattern in a continuous moving web of material. The web is supported and displaced in a flat plane, and a sensor is utilized to detect the lateral position of the web on this plane. At least one cutting element, herein a high pressure water jet, is displaceably supported for movement on two transverse axes in a horizontal plane adjacent a face of the web and generates a cutting beam to cut a predetermined repetitive pattern through the web. The cutting element is secure to a guide member which is displaced in the horizontal plane adjacent the web, and its displacement and rate of speed are controlled by a control device.

  • Patent number: 4856171
Abstract: A method of applying a fabric material, such as a screening fabric or fiber glass cloth in a retention groove of a rectangular frame by applying a spline cord in the groove with a fabric portion disposed therein. The method comprises storing data pertaining to the dimension of a rectangular frame, in an electronic control device. A frame support structure is automatically positioned to a frame receiving position where the frame is placed thereon. At least two frame engaging members of the frame support structure are moved to position the side members of the frame in a desired configuration. The side members are gripped to maintain them along respective straight transverse axis. A predetermined length of fabric material is then positioned to the frame to overly the retention groove of the side members.

  • Patent number: 4766661
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for applying a fabric material to a rectangular frame having a fabric retention groove along respective side members thereof. The apparatus comprises a support structure having a planar frame support which is comprised of two pairs of opposed parallel frame engaging members. One of the frame engaging members of each of the pairs is an adjustably displaceable member. Each frame engaging member has one or more gripping elements for holding respective ones of the side members of the frame along a substantially straight axis and actuable to release the side members. A jaw member is provided to position a predetermined length of the fabric material over the frame to overlie the fabric retention groove of the frame side members. A spline cord positioner is displaceable in alignment with the retention grooves for applying a spline cord in the grooves from above the fabric material to retain the material therein.

  • Patent number: 4559140
Abstract: The present invention relates to a paint strainer, its blank and the method of making same. The strainer comprises a conical receptacle having a conically tapering side wall formed of stiff sheet material and defining an upper support portion having an open end, and a lower filtration portion. The lower filtration portion has a first reinforcing arm formed integral with the upper support portion and terminating at a pointed free end located at the apex of the receptacle. A second reinforcing arm is formed integral with the upper support portion and disposed substantially diametrically opposed to the first reinforcing arm. The second reinforcing arm is connected adjacent to the pointed free end of the first reinforcing arm and defines a lower filtration aperture and further side filtration apertures to each side of the first and second reinforcing arms. A filtration mesh screen is disposed over the filtration apertures.
