  • Patent number: 11690752
Abstract: We disclose a method of providing a user or a healthcare worker with an ostomy device that is shape-adjustable to conform to skin around a stoma associated with a bulge or a hernia. The ostomy device is configured to invert from a storage configuration to a use configuration by inverting a substantially convex shape of a proximal side of a base plate to a substantially concave shape and stabilizing the base plate in the use configuration by contacting the inner radial periphery of the reinforcing structure with a distal surface of the base plate.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 4, 2023
    Assignee: Coloplast A/S

  • Patent number: 11051969
Abstract: An adaptable ostomy base plate comprising a flexible top film, having a first section and a second section, and having at least a first elastic skin-friendly adhesive on a proximal surface of said flexible top film, a stoma-receiving through-going hole defining an inner boundary in said first section, said first section being adjacent to and extending radially from said through-going hole and said second section surrounding said first section defining an outer boundary of the base plate, and one or more release liners, the base plate has a substantially convex shape for initial engagement with a peristomal skin surface and can be inverted to a substantially concave shape to fittingly engage to a topography of the peristomal skin surface and the second section of the base plate is in the form of a plurality of petals extending away from the central area; and a plurality of bridges, each bridge formed between adjacent petals of the plurality of petals.

  • Patent number: 10893974
Abstract: A base plate of an ostomy appliance includes a film, an adhesive disposed on a proximal surface of the film, an annular ring connected to the distal surface of the film, and a release liner removably attached to the adhesive. A stoma-receiving through-going hole is formed through the film and the adhesive and the release liner. A first section of the base plate extends radially from the stoma-receiving through-going hole to a second section of the base plate, and the second section extends radially from the first section to an outermost perimeter edge of the base plate. The base plate is formed to have a heat-set curvature such that a proximal side of the second section is convex and a distal side of the second section is concave relative to the annular ring.

  • Patent number: 10517754
Abstract: An ostomy wafer includes a stoma receiving hole formed through an adhesive layer and a backing layer of the ostomy wafer and has a central area formed as a continuous band of material around an entire perimeter of the stoma receiving hole. An outer periphery of the wafer is formed by a plurality of petals connected to and extending away from the central area, and a plurality of bridges is provided formed between adjacent petals of the plurality of petals. A thickness of the adhesive layer measured within one of the plurality of bridges is greater than a thickness of the adhesive layer measured within one of the plurality of petals.
