  • Patent number: 4916003
Abstract: A heat-formed composite panel composed of at least one layer of refractory fibers, for example silico-aluminous fibers, bonded with a mineral binder, an intermediate sheet in a water and water vapor sealed material, such as aluminum, and a layer of fibers, particularly glass fibers, bonded with a polymerized organic binder. The panel is a heat screen for high temperature automobile components.

Date of Patent: April 10, 1990
    Assignees: Isover Saint-Gobain, Societe Kerlane
Inventors: Alain Le Sech, Pierre-Francois Boilly, Rene Gest, Pierre Egly
  • Patent number: 4824714
Abstract: A composite panel molded between a male stamping part and a female stamping part, and comprising a layer of mineral fibers having on selected zones particularly edges which are of three times the density which is normal in the panel, a surfacing layer destroyed under the action of the heat released by a knife above the said selected zones and a surfacing layer which covers the said slected zones, and a process for making the same are disclosed. The composite panel is used particularly as an inner trim for a motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4818218
Abstract: This invention relates to internal combustion burners. In the burners according to the invention, the combustible mixture flows in counter-current to the combustion gases while in contact with the same, and the introduction of the mixture into the combustion chamber is effected along a wall of said chamber and the emitted gases leave the chamber along a second wall thereof, the two walls being opposite one another. The burners according to the invention, which have improved performance and versatility of use, are of use more particularly for mineral fibre drawing processes.

  • Patent number: 4160398
Abstract: Making insulation sleeves from binder containing fibrous material, including integrated method and apparatus features for dividing a continuous blanket or web of fibrous material into individual lengths, winding individual lengths of fibrous blanket upon a multi-part separable mandrel, heating the mandrel to cure the binder in the inside surface layer of the sleeve, separating the sleeve from the mandrel, bringing the outside surface of the sleeve into contact with a heated surface to cure the binder in the outside surface layer of the sleeve, delivering the sleeves to a curing oven in which the sleeves are advanced and rotated, trimming the ends of the sleeves, and axially slitting the sleeves.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 1, 1978
Date of Patent: July 10, 1979
    Assignee: Saint-Gobain Industries
