    Abstract: A device for the determination of sleep profiles is described. The device has an electrode unit, a signal recording unit and a signal processing/signal evaluating unit separated from the signal recording unit. The signals obtained from the electrode unit are stored on a storage unit adapted to be taken out from and to be replaced in the signal recording unit. The storage unit is supplied to the separated signal processing/signal evaluating unit and is read into the same there. If the signal processing/signal evaluating modalities are modified with this device no modification of the hardware is necessary but only the software of the signal processing/signal evaluating unit has to be modified.
