  • Patent number: 6365278
Abstract: Multilayer elastomer films (multilayer material) comprising at least one continuous layer, carrying an active chemical substance (such as corrosion inhibitors, lubricants or alternatively biocides for medical use), inserted between inert elastomer barrier layers, processes for the preparation and various applications of these films. The multilayer polymeric material comprises at least one layer A composed of a gel which is reversible or non-reversible, as a function of the temperature, and which carries at least one active chemical substance x, and at least two barrier layers E comprising a synthetic elastomer e, the said layers being held together by a polymeric bonding agent y incorporated in at least one of the said layers A or E and/or by an independent bonding layer Z comprising a polymer z and/or by a chemical or physical treatment of at least one of the said layers A or E.

  • Patent number: 5883155
Abstract: Elastomer films in which active chemical substances, such as corrosion inhibitors, lubricants or biocides for medical use are uniformly dispersed in the form of gel inclusions, processes for preparation and applications of these films. The elastomer film contains at least one active chemical substance in the form of a phase which is dispersed in the elastomer, wherein the disperse phase is in the form of a gel, reversible or irreversible, as a function of temperature, and filled with an active chemical substance.

  • Patent number: 5804628
Abstract: Elastomer films in which active chemical substances such as anticorrosive agents, lubricants or medications such as biocides are uniformly dispersed in the form of liquid droplets, process for their preparation and their applications.Stable emulsions comprising a continuous phase made up of a solution of elastomer in an organic solvent and a disperse phase including at least one active chemical substance in a solvent which is not miscible with the solution of elastomer, which are capable of being converted into elastomer films, and process for their preparation. The said elastomer film includes a dispersion of droplets of a solvent b which is not miscible with the elastomer, laden with at least one active chemical substance, which dispersion is stabilized by a block or graft copolymer comprising polyB blocks which are miscible with the said droplets and polyA blocks which are not miscible with these droplets.

  • Patent number: 5024852
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a prophylactic device having contained therein at least one pharmaceutically active substance, comprising:forming a first layer of elastomeric material into the desired shape of the prophylactic device;prevulcanizing the first layer;applying to one side of the first layer a layer of microcapsules having at least one pharmaceutically active substance encapsulated therein;depositing on the coating of microcapsules a second layer of elastomeric material; andvulcanizing the first and second layers of elastomeric material. The device may be in the form of a contraceptive sheath, finger stall or glove, and protects the user from contamination by various germs, viruses, fungi and other pathogens in the whole area of the body covered by the device.

  • Patent number: 3997020
Abstract: A sound absorber comprises an acoustical horn whose mouth is turned towards a source of sound the radiation of which is to be deadened or absorbed and at its narrow throat is provided with a small plug sound-absorbing material of selected acoustical impedance. Such a unit can be made of hard construction material such as plaster or concrete, wood or metal and fiberglass or rock wool of predetermined density may be employed as the sound absorber at the narrow throat of the horn. The horn is preferably of exponential shape. Two absorbers of this kind facing each other can be used as building block of a double shell sound attenuating wall, with high sound transmission loss (STL).
