  • Publication number: 20100254115
Abstract: The invention relates to a color-tunable illumination system (10), to a lamp and to a luminaire. The color-tunable illumination system comprises a light source (20) emitting light of a first predefined color (B), and comprises a luminescent material (30) for converting light of the first predefined color into light of a second predefined color (A). The color-tunable illumination system further comprises shielding means (40, 42) arranged for preventing at least part of the light emitted by the light source to impinge on the luminescent material. The light source, the luminescent material and/or the shielding means are changeable from a first situation to a second situation. In the first situation the color-tunable illumination system is arranged for shielding at least part of the luminescent material against impinging light of the first predefined color.

  • Publication number: 20090134761
Abstract: A gas discharge lamp having an envelope (1, 3) comprising a translucent cylindrical part (1) and an end part (3) at each end of said cylindrical parts (1). Lead wires (4, 5) supply electric current to an electrode (6) near each of said end parts (3) and extend through the material of each of the two end parts (3). At least one end part (3) is provided with a tubular element (7) made of a thermally conductive material, such as a metal or a thermally conductive ceramic material, that extends through the material of said end part (3), such that an open end of said tubular element (7) is connected to the space inside the envelope (1, 3) and a closed end of the tubular element (7) extends outside the envelope 1,3).

  • Publication number: 20080093972
Abstract: A discharge lamp having a tube-like envelope (1,3) comprising an electrode (4) near at least one of the two ends of the envelope. The axis (5) of the electrode (4) is directed substantially perpendicular to the axis of the tube-like envelope (1,3). The ends of two pinch lead wires (7) are connected to the ends of the electrode (4) and a portion (10) of each pinch lead wire (7) is embedded in the material of the envelope (1,3). The electrode (4) is located nearer to the end of the tube-like envelope (1,3) than a part of the pinch lead wire (7) that is embedded in the material of the envelope (3), resulting in a uniform light emission up to almost the end of the envelope.
