  • Publication number: 20220412594
Abstract: A system and method include a computer processor, computer memory associated with the computer processor and a network interface. A plurality of temperature sensors are each associated with a respective electric heating element. Optionally, in one form, the plurality of sensors are associated with the computer processor wherein the temperature sensors send respective signals to the computer processor via the network interface. The computer processor is programmed to provide varying amounts of power to one or more of the electric heating elements based on signals sent to the computer processor.

  • Patent number: 10652039
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting and interfering with compromised devices and unauthorized device relocation in a communication network are disclosed. The described embodiments may be deployed in a content delivery network where receivers have been compromised in a manner that renders the conditional access system (CAS) inoperative at controlling the receivers' ability to receive content. In some embodiments, alternate commands not protected by the CAS system may be used to detect hacked devices and interdict same. In some embodiments, service devices in the content delivery network may allow for detection of unauthorized device relocation.

  • Patent number: 8671457
Abstract: A method and system is provided to analyse receiver indicia of location for a set of at least one receivers to determine whether a receiver has an erroneous indicator of location. The embodiment may take further steps to confirm whether or not inappropriate usage has occurred. The method and system includes identifying a first indicia of location for a set of one or more receivers, identifying a second indicia of location for one or more receivers from the set, and determining if the first and second indicia of location are mutually inconsistent. Indicia of location include indicators of receiver location, inventory state, communication path and definition on systems. The method and system may optionally include action to report or correct the location error.

  • Patent number: 8191160
Abstract: A method and system for auditing unauthorized usage in a subscriber content delivery network is described. The method and system includes identifying an indicator relating to accessibility for a receiver intended for receiving signals through the network; obtaining an indicator relating to authorization for a pre-determined service offering of the network; and determining whether the indicator of access ability is consistent with the indicator relating to authorization to thereby ascertain that the receiver is capable of engaging in unauthorized usage. The method and system may optionally include undertaking an action to change at least one of the indicator of access ability and the indicator relating to authorization.

  • Patent number: 7958524
Abstract: A method and system for controlling unauthorized signal usage in a content delivery network, such as a television network, is described. The method and system acquires at least two signal usage records for a receiver of the content, evaluates the at least two signal usage records for indicia of usage of a combination of signals not normally authorized on the receiver, and detects unauthorized signal usage upon the at least two signal usage records being consistent with such indicia.
