Abstract: A process for protecting cultivated plants against aggressive agricultural chemicals is described in which oxide derivatives of the formula ##STR1## are used as antidotes. Either the cultivated area for the cultivated plants or the cultivated plants themselves or parts of the plant (seeds, tubers, stem parts, and the like), as desired, can be treated with these oxide derivatives, which are used as a dressing.

Abstract: The agents protect wood and coatings against deterioration by microorganisms. The agents contain at least one compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is nitrogen or a CH group and R.sub.1 is a radical of the formula ##STR2## wherein Ar, R and Z are as defined in claim 1, or an acid addition salt thereof.

Abstract: A method of protecting keratinous material, especially wool, from attack by insects that feed on keratin, which comprises treating said material with compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is oxygen or sulfur, each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently is alkyl, alkenyl, benzyl or unsubstituted or substituted phenyl, R.sub.3 is halogen, nitro or trihalomethyl, R.sub.4 is hydrogen, halogen or trihalomethyl, and R.sub.5 is hydrogen, halogen, methyl or methoxy. The invention also provides novel compounds of the formula (1) wherein at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is phenyl or substituted phenyl and X is oxygen as well as compositions containing the compounds of the formula (1) and compositions which, in addition to the compounds of formula (1), also contain synthetic pyrethroids, esters of .alpha.-alkyl-substituted phenylacetic acids or substituted sulfanilides.

Abstract: Hydroxyphenyl ketones of the formula: ##STR1## in which n is 0, 1, 2 or 3, X is C or N and Y is C, N or N.fwdarw.O, the heterocyclic structure containing not more than 2 N atoms as ring members, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each H, F, Cl, Br, NO.sub.2, CH.sub.3 or OCH.sub.3, R.sub.3 is H, Cl, Br, NO.sub.2, CN, CH.sub.3, OCH.sub.3, NH.sub.2 or NHCOCH.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is H, Cl, Br or CH.sub.3 or together with R.sub.3 is a benzene ring fused at the bond [b], if X is C, and R.sub.5 is hydrogen or a group of the formula ##STR2## if n=1. Processes for the preparation of these compounds are also proposed. The said compounds can be used to control harmful micro-organisms.

Abstract: Novel o-benzylphenols as well as a process for their production, a method for combating harmful microorganisms and compositions comprising said o-benzylphenols are provided.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use of diamines of the formula I ##STR1## in which R and R.sup.1 are, for example, identical and are alkyl, as active substances for the control of harmful organisms in water and other materials, especially industrial materials. Inter alia, bacteria, fungi, yeasts and algae are controlled.The control is effected in standing and running waters. In preservatives and disinfectants, the diamines are used for natural and synthetic materials, especially industrial materials.

Abstract: The invention discloses a method of protecting organic or inorganic material from attack by microorganisms, which comprises incorporating in or applying to the surface of the material to be protected 3,5-dibromo-4-chlorophenol, 3,5-dibromo-4-fluorophenol or 3,5-dichloro-4-bromophenol or a mixture thereof. Compositions for carrying out the method of the invention are also disclosed.

Abstract: Halogenated phenol esters of the formula ##STR1## wherein X represents chlorine or fluorine and R represents hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 22 carbon atoms, alkenyl of 2 to 22 carbon atoms, benzyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by chlorine or bromine atoms, or phenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by alkyl or alkoxy, each of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, carboxyl, chlorine and/or bromine. The invention also relates to a method of protecting organic and inorganic material from attack by microorganisms, in particular of providing textiles with an antimicrobial and rotproof finish, of protecting wood from rot, and of preventing the formation of slime in the manufacture of paper.

Abstract: Compositions effective against coccidial oocysts and eggs of Ascaris suum, Ascaridia galli and Toxocara canis as active ingredient at least one secondary amine of the general formula Ir--nh--r' (i)whereinR represents a straight-chain or branched alkyl radical of 5 to 18 carbon atoms, a monocyclic cycloalkyl radical or a monocyclic cycloalkylalkyl radical which contains at least 5 carbon atoms in the cyclic moiety, andR' represents a straight-chain or branched alkyl radical of 1 to 9 carbon atoms, a monocyclic cycloalkyl radical of 3 to 6 carbon atoms or a cyclopropylmethyl, cyclohexylmethyl or cyclohexylpropyl radical, and wherein R and R' together contain at least 10 carbon atoms, or a salt thereof with hydrochloric acid or hydrobromic acid or acetic acid or other organic acids, such as lactic, citric, sorbic, undecylenic or glucuronic acid and methods comprising the use of said compositions.
