Abstract: A method for cleaning a workspace, including: autonomously moving, with a mechanism of a robot, a cloth of a mopping assembly of the robot upwards and downwards relative to a work surface of the work space. The cloth is disengaged from the work surface when the cloth is moved upwards relative to the work surface such that the cloth is not in contact with the work surface. The cloth is engaged with the work surface when the cloth is moved downwards relative to the work surface such that the cloth is in contact with the work surface. The mechanism moves the cloth of the mopping assembly upwards and downwards relative to the work surface based on input provided by at least one sensor of the robot.

Abstract: Provided is an autonomous coverage robot including: a chassis; a set of wheels; a plurality of sensors; and a mopping assembly including: a fluid reservoir for storing a cleaning fluid; a cloth for receiving the cleaning fluid, wherein the cloth is oriented toward a work surface; a means to move at least the cloth of the mopping assembly up and down in a plane perpendicular to the work surface, wherein the means to move at least the cloth of the mopping assembly up and down is controlled automatically based on input provided by at least one of the plurality of sensors; and a means to move at least a portion of the mopping assembly back and forth in a plane parallel to the work surface.

Abstract: Provided is a mopping extension attachable to a robotic floor cleaning device including: a fluid reservoir for storing one or more cleaning fluids; a cloth for receiving the one or more cleaning fluids, wherein the cloth is oriented toward the work surface; and, at least one or more dispersed nozzle sets for controlling delivery of the one or more cleaning fluids to the cloth.

Abstract: A mopping extension attachable to a robotic vacuum. The mopping extension comprising, at minimum, a frame, a cloth, and a mechanism to secure the frame to the body of the robotic vacuum. The mopping extension may be installed in a dedicated compartment within the robotic vacuum body such that the cloth is dragged along the work surface as the robotic vacuum travels through the work area. In some embodiments, the mopping extension further comprises a means to automatically dampen the cloth to further improve cleaning efficiency. In some embodiments, the mopping extension further comprises means to move the mopping extension back and forth during operation to further improve cleaning efficiency. In some embodiments, the mopping extension further comprises a means to disengage and engage the mopping extension as the robotic vacuum is working.
