    Abstract: Methods and apparatus to maintain communication services during a power failure are disclosed. An example method comprises detecting a loss of power at a digital subscriber line (DSL) modem and detecting a power status of the DSL modem. The example method also includes, when the power status is in an on state, transmitting a message indicative of the on state of the power status along a subscriber line to a digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM).
