  • Patent number: 4807090
Abstract: An instrument with an illumination ring that edge-lights an opaque dial face with increased light flow by augmenting the conductivity of both the light receiving portion of the ring and a bevel for deflecting light laterally across the face. The increased light flow is accomplished by an extended annular wall portion spaced from the edge of the dial face.

  • Patent number: 4768300
Abstract: An illuminated information display including a standard planar active display, such as an LCD display, covered by a rigid transparent plate with fixed graphics on its rear surface illuminated by light transmitted laterally through the plate.

  • Patent number: 4551598
Abstract: An illuminated membrane switch assembly lighted by internal bulb units. A membrane switch sub-assembly is finger touch actuated by a small translucent plastic button with a graphic overlay on its forward surface and a light-diffusing textured rear surface. A clear plastic backplate is provided for the membrane switch sub-assembly, and in one embodiment light is transmitted to the button directly through a complex partly opaque conductor area in the membrane switch by a single bulb unit mounted in the rear of an enclosing housing that has a white interior surface, and in another embodiment light is transmitted to the button through the switch conductive area by a bulb mounted inside the transparent backplate.

  • Patent number: 4493958
Abstract: An illuminated membrane switch assembly lighted by a contained rearwardly positioned bulb unit. A membrane switch is actuated by a small reciprocable transparent plunger with an illuminated graphics bearing overlay on its forward surface. Light is transmitted axially from the rear of the switch around the periphery of conductive areas on the membranes to the transparent plunger without any shadowing.

  • Patent number: 3981470
Abstract: An accessory instrument panel adapted to be mounted on an angular surface in a vehicle. The panel consists of a one piece molding having an upper mounting bracket that is fastened to the angular surface in the vehicle with arcuate flanges projecting downwardly from the bracket and having arcuate serrations on the outer surfaces thereof that interengage arcuate serrations on the sides of an instrument mounting panel. The mounting panel is pivotally mounted with respect to the mounting bracket so that the angular position of the mounting panel with respect to the mounting bracket and the mounting surface may be adjusted as desired.
