  • Patent number: 4138460
Abstract: A method of potting in a single or multi-cavity mold a plurality of fibers in continuous tow form to encapsulate the fibers, fill the interstices and form a solid tubesheet of selected shape and length. After transversely cutting through the thus formed tubesheet and the fibers therein a pair of tubesheets are formed each attached to and forming the end portion of a length of fibers. Potting at spaced longitudinal locations on the continuous tow, and transverse cutting, produces fiber bundle assemblies having a length of the tow of hollow fibers between a pair of axially spaced tubesheets. The process is semi-continuous or continuous, as desired.

  • Patent number: 3978378
Abstract: Non-conductive or poorly conductive resinous materials such as organic polymers are rendered highly conductive, e.g., volume resistivities as low as 10.sup.-.sup.3 ohm-cm, by including therein a finely divided, copper metal-containing solid and a salt such as zinc chloride. Such compositions can be fabricated into thin layers which are useful as electrodes or capacitors and into other articles wherein electroconductivity is required.

  • Patent number: 3975493
Abstract: A method for using an expandable forming plug in forming apparatus such as plug assisted vacuum or pressure differential forming machines and the like wherein the plug cooperates with a mold to form hollow articles such as containers, closures, trays, and the like, from thermoplastic synthetic resinous film or sheeting. The expandable plug provides hollow articles which during forming can be programed or controlled, as desired, with respect to thickness distribution in the walls thereof and, more particularly, provides hollow articles with side and bottom walls of desired thickness, such as of substantially uniform or of a varying thickness.
