  • Publication number: 20130134350
Abstract: Compositions of stabilized forms of organometallic reagents, methods of preparing the stabilized forms, and methods of using the stabilized forms, are provided. Stabilized organometallic reagent compositions of the invention are sorbent solids permeated by the organometallic reagent. The reagent can be a Grignard reagent, a Reformatsky reagent, a zinc reagent of the type RZnX, R2Zn, Ar2Zn, R3ZnM, Ar3ZnM, and the like, an organolithium reagent such as n-butyllithium, a organocopper reagent, or other reactive, potentially pyrophoric reagent. The compositions are solids that can be weighed and dispensed in ambient air without requiring inert gas blanketing. The compositions can be prepared by contacting the sorbent solid, which can be silica, an alkyl silica, alumina, or other non-reactive sorbent solid with a solution of the organometallic reagent in a non-reactive solvent, then, removing the solvent, such as under vacuum.

  • Publication number: 20100311879
Abstract: The invention provides a method of preparing regioregular conducting polymers. The method includes adding a nickel (II) catalyst with the monomer-metal complex to provide the regioregular conducting polymer. Electronic devices can be made using the regioregular conducting polymers prepared as described herein.

  • Publication number: 20100021799
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to a galvanic cell comprising a first electrode, a second electrode, an electrolyte in contact with both the electrodes, a substrate adapted to support and separate the electrodes while allowing the electrolyte to move within it and contacts electrically coupled to the electrodes, wherein one or more of the electrodes comprises one or more highly reactive metals and wherein at least one of the electrodes is printed on the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20100004423
Abstract: The invention provides a method of preparing regioregular HT poly(3-substituted-thiophene). The method includes contacting a 3-substituted-thiophene-metal complex with a manganese(II) halide to provide a 3-substituted-thiophene-manganese complex; and contacting the thiophene-manganese complex with a nickel(II) catalyst to provide the regioregular HT poly(3-substituted-thiophene). The substitution at the 3-position can be a variety of different groups. Additionally, unsubstituted and 3,4-disubstituted polythiophenes can also be prepared by the method. Electronic devices can be made using the polymers prepared as described herein.

  • Patent number: 7442759
Abstract: The invention provides a water-soluble polymer having formula I: where R1 and R2 are independently —H, -alkylCO2A, —(CH2)n-aryl-(CH2)nCO2A, —(CH2)n-heterocycle-(CH2)nCO2A, or —(CH2)n-cycloalkyl-(CH2)nCO2A, where n is an integer from 0 to 200, and A is an alkali metal cation, with the proviso that only one of R1 and R2 is —H.
