  • Patent number: 9275430
Abstract: A computing system employing a multi-GPU graphics processing and display subsystem supporting single-GPU non-parallel (i.e. multi-tasking) and multi-GPU parallel application-division modes of graphics processing operations, in order to execute graphic commands and process graphics data (GCAD) render pixel-composited images containing graphics for display on a display device during the run-time of the multiple graphics-based applications, while managing and conserving electrical power and graphics processing resources. An automatic mode control module (AMCM) analyzes the application profiles assigned to graphics applications running on the computing system, and automatically controls the mode of operation of the multi-GPU graphics processing and display subsystem during the run-time of the multiple graphics-based applications.

  • Publication number: 20160027142
Abstract: A method for controlling image resolution in graphics systems at runtime is provided. In use, the stream of commands and Shaders of the running application is intercepted and analyzed at run time. In the event that an on-the-fly change of resolution is required, the change is made by modification of the Shader assembly code or of the graphics library commands.

  • Publication number: 20150254889
Abstract: The present disclosure describes a new ray tracing shadowing method. The method is unique as it separates the shadowing from the tracing stages of primary and secondary rays. It provides high data locality, reduced amount of intersection tests, no traversals and no reconstruction of complex acceleration structures, as well as improved load balancing based on actual processing load.

  • Patent number: 9117306
Abstract: Aspects comprise shadowing method as part of ray tracing. It is based on uniform grid of cells, and on local stencils in cells. The acceleration structures are abandoned along with high traversal and construction costs of these structures. The amount of intersection tests is cut down. The stencils are generated in the preprocessing stage and utilized in runtime. The relevant part of scene data, critical for shadowing of all visible intersection points in a cell, is registered in the local stencil map, as a volumetric data. The runtime use of stencils allows a complete locality at each cell, enhanced utilization of processing resources and load balancing of parallel processing.

  • Patent number: 9007372
Abstract: Aspects comprise ray shooting system based on the data structure of a uniform grid of cells, and on local stencils in cells. The high traversal and construction costs of accelerating structures are cut down. The object's visibility from the viewpoint and from light sources, as well as the primary workload and its distribution among cells, are gained in the preprocessing stage and cached in stencils for runtime use. In runtime, the use of stencils allows a complete locality at each cell, for load balanced parallel processing.

  • Publication number: 20140300595
Abstract: Collision-culling for early elimination of non-colliding ray segments over a group of polygons in a computer graphics system. The scene is subdivided into cells, at each cell three orthographically viewed buffers of the local scene are created, each buffer is aligned with one of the three main axes. All rays in a cell are examined vs. each of the buffers to eliminate ray segments that for certain do not collide with local polygons.

  • Publication number: 20140297397
Abstract: The invention provides a system and method for determining affective response following exposure to audio and/or visual content items, such as ads. In the system of the invention, one or more presentation devices are used to present the audio and/or visual content items to one or more individuals. A monitoring apparatus monitors a level of neural stimulation the superior temporal sulcus (STS) of an individual during exposure of the individual to the audio and/or visual content items, and generates data indicative of the level of stimulation of the STS in the individual. A CPU processes the data generated by the monitoring apparatus from one or more individuals to calculate one or more memorability scores of each of the one or more content items presented to the individual.
