  • Publication number: 20160279748
Abstract: A system for inserting a component, such as a bushing, into a receiving structure, such as a mold, is disclosed. The system includes a component station and a component transporter. The component station includes a component support to and a first component ejector to move the component off of the component support. The component transporter includes a multi-axis mover, a component receiver with a retainer that retains the component within the component receiver, and a component ejector to move the component out of the component receiver. The component receiver is disposed on the multi-axis mover. The component transporter moves the component receiver between a first position at the component station, where the component receiver receives the component, and a second position at a processing station, where the component receiver ejects the component. A method is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9307844
Abstract: A snap-fit joint for connecting frame members includes a male member having an insertion end, a top portion, and opposite sidewalls. A female member has a socket to receive the male member insertion end. The socket includes an upstanding wall that temporarily flexes outwardly. Co-acting surfaces of the upstanding socket wall and the male member sidewall include co-acting surfaces in temporarily contact during insertion of the male member into the female member socket to temporarily outwardly flex the upstanding socket wall and seat the male member. The socket wall terminates in a tab and the male member sidewall surface terminates in a recess. The male member is fully seated in the socket, and the co-acting surfaces are out of contact with each other, the upstanding socket wall returns to an unflexed condition, and the socket tab is received in sidewall to lock the male member within the socket.

  • Patent number: 8905670
Abstract: A snap-fit joint comprises plastic male and female members. The male member has a flexible wall shaped along its length to define a terminal anchor portion and a relatively narrower neck portion defined by opposing curved indentations of the wall. The opposing curved indentations taper inwardly from a top to a bottom, such that the distance between opposing curved indentations of the wall is least at the bottom of the wall and greatest at the top. The female member comprises a socket corresponding in shape to that of the male member. As the male member is inserted into the socket, the curved indentations of the male member are flexed inwardly until the male member is seated in the socket.

  • Patent number: 8745866
Abstract: A method of molding a valve lifter guide includes determining a flow path of injected material in the mold cavity by including a thin walled section in the formed guide. A leading edge of the material flow path forms a dam when crossing a thin walled section in the mold cavity to change a direction of a portion of the leading edge of the material flow path, until the leading edge meets a trailing edge of the material. The valve lifter guide includes a front wall, rear wall, a first radiused end wall, a second radiused end wall, and a bottom surface having an elongated socket. A tab extending from the valve guide support member has a first projection. The valve guide support member is disposed between the engine block and a cylinder head and the first projection is received in an opening of the engine block.
