Abstract: A cordless kitchen appliance has a motor housing, a drive assembly disposed within the motor housing, a battery selectively attached to the motor housing to power the drive assembly, and an operable assembly selectively coupled to the motor housing and selectively engaged with the drive assembly to allow the drive assembly to rotate a cylindrical blade of the operable assembly. A user may insert food items into the operable assembly, pressing the food items against the cylindrical blade with a pusher to process the food items. The cordless kitchen appliance provides a variety of safety features including multiple interlock mechanisms and a microcontroller configured to control the operation of the drive assembly. Further, the cordless kitchen appliance provides a variety of convenience features, including release mechanisms and structures configured to facilitate the storage of the cordless kitchen appliance when the cordless kitchen appliance is not in use.

Abstract: A food processor includes a base unit including a housing enclosing a drive motor. The housing defines a battery-receiving cavity along a portion thereof with a plurality of terminals exposed therein. The food processor further includes a jar assembly mountable on the base unit and enclosing a food-processing cavity, a food processing implement rotatably mounted within the jar assembly and configured to be driven by the motor when the jar assembly is mounted on the base, and a battery mountable in the battery receiving cavity in electrical connection with the plurality of terminals. The base unit is configured to operably power the drive motor using the battery.
