The spacer panel, which preferably depends from and is folded about the upper edge of the front wall of the box portion, has a free edge that extends across the inner surface of the front wall of the box portion and does not project from the box portion into space covered by the lid portion in the closed position.

Abstract: The invention relates to a continuous tobacco slab (10) made of shredded tobacco which slab has a substantially uniform composition and a substantially uniform distribution of the shredded tobacco. The invention further relates to a multi-layer structure comprising the tobacco slab and in addition at least one layer, preferably one or two layers, of a smokable material other than shredded tobacco. Furthermore, the invention provides a package comprising the tobacco slab or multi-layer structure.

Abstract: The invention provides a packaged article having an improved wrapper for consumer goods comprises a film packaging material provided with a tear tape and at least one barrier strip adjacent to the tear tape. In use, the barrier strip creates a predictable, predefined path for the tear tape upon opening of the wrapper. It is particularly advantageous if the barrier strip and tear tape are provided on opposite sides of the film packaging material. A pull tab and corresponding cut-out may be provided in the film packaging material at opposite ends of the tear tape.

Abstract: The invention relates to a filter (10) for tobacco products with a first terminal filter element (12), a second terminal filter element (14), a middle filter element (16) which is located between first and second terminal filter element and contains a granular filter material, and a casing (20), one part of one of the terminal filter elements (12) being displaceable vis-à-vis the casing (20). The invention furthermore relates to smoking articles with such filters, filter strands with two or more of the filters, and processes and devices for the production of such filters and tobacco products.

Abstract: An embossed sheet in the form of an inner wrap 40 for a cigarette pack is disclosed. The sheet comprises two layers of contrasting appearance, and the embossing removes one of the layers over regions 42 of the sheet to impart a characteristic appearance to the sheet.
