Abstract: The system provides a method an apparatus for retrieving and normalizing third party listings. The system allows a user to use a single transaction system to search multiple sources of listings. Listings that are from outside the system (third party listings) are normalized by translating the listings into the format of the local system. The creator of the third party listing (i.e. the seller) is contacted and offered the chance to become a listing party on the local system. The local system presents the seller with a plurality of questions that aid in completing a more comprehensive and sellable listing. The system rewards disclosure on the part of the third party lister by providing a richer listing on the local system.

Abstract: The system provides a method an apparatus for enabling a buyer or seller to easily obtain a mechanical inspection of a vehicle for sale. A seller may obtain an inspection and offer to make the inspection report available to all prospective purchasers prior to completion of the sale. In other instances, the inspection report may be offered to a potential buyer for a fee. In another embodiment, a sponsor may offer a free inspection in exchange for promotional messages associated with the vehicle. In another embodiment, a buyer may have the option to order an inspection on a vehicle for sale, either for a fee or in return for promotional or marketing efforts. In yet another embodiment, an inspection report of a vehicle for sale on the system may be distributed to mechanics and repair centers in the geographical areas of the buyer and/or the seller of a vehicle.

The system tracks sales and offers for sale of similar items and determines the words, images, and descriptions that have been most useful in selling items in the past. The seller is presented with information about descriptions that can maximize price and/or minimize time on the market. The system operates by collecting data from prior sales including selling price, expected selling price, start date, end date, images of item, time of year, geographical region, and a dictionary of terms and phrases used in prior sales. These factors are analyzed and identified as helpful or hurtful in a number of categories, including selling price and/or time on the market.

Abstract: The system provides a method an apparatus for implementing a peer to peer transaction system. The system includes an online system of marketing and pricing that optimizes saleability and profit, limits access of strangers to personal spaces, limits the likelihood of unqualified buyers, provides appropriate paperwork automatically, and reduces the cycle time of offer and sale. The system also provides trustworthy information to a buyer of physical condition and title, as well as resources normally only available in a commercial transaction.
