Publication number: 20250070295Abstract: Processes and systems for isolating manganese (Mn), cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni) as a purified co-precipitated product or alternatively independent products, from a lithium-ion battery waste stream like black mass are provided. The process may include processing black mass in an extraction process that comprises mixing the black mass with a source of iron (III) ions and a source of iron (II) ions in an aqueous liquid to extract Mn, Ni, and Co and the at least one impurity element to form a stream, then filtering solids including the graphite and iron hydroxide from the stream that then comprises Mn, Ni, and Co and at least one impurity element. The stream may be further purified by removing the at least one impurity element and Mn, Ni, and Co can be separated from the stream to form one or more recovered products comprising one or more of Mn, Ni, and C0.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2024Publication date: February 27, 2025Applicant: GREEN LI-ION PTE. Patent number: 9483888Abstract: A container including a reusable electronic seal, as well as a system and method for using the electronic seal are described. The container includes a closure member configured to detachably affix to a portion of the container, thereby sealing the container. In response to the closure member sealing the container, a signal generating component generates an electronic signal and transmits the electronic signal to a processing circuit operably connected to the signal generating component. The processing circuit includes a processing device configured to generate a unique code when the closure member is manipulated to open or close the container and an output device operably connected to the processing device and configured to output the unique code. The unique code is updated each time the container is opened, thereby providing a recipient with a way to determine whether the container has been opened during delivery.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2012Date of Patent: November 1, 2016Assignee: University of ManitobaInventors: Eric Bibeau, Reza Ghorbani

Publication number: 20100252339Abstract: An auxiliary drive device is disclosed that connects to a motorised vehicle to supplement the drive of the motorised vehicle depending on the speed and acceleration of the motorised vehicle by using stored energy. The auxiliary drive device obtains energy by regenerative braking when the motorised vehicle decelerates, extracting energy from the motorised vehicle by using hybrid through the road, and by recharging from the power grid. The auxiliary drive device uses the stored energy to supplement the drive of the motorised vehicle depending on the motorised vehicle speed, acceleration, drive cycle, the amount of energy stored, and if the motorised vehicle is towing a load. A controller maximizes fuel savings and towing performance of the motorised vehicle. The controller determines when the auxiliary drive device needs to provide the mortised vehicle with power assistance, resistance via braking and when to conserve the stored energy for later use.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2008Publication date: October 7, 2010Inventors: Eric Bibeau, Reza Ghorbani
