Abstract: A method implemented on a controller for establishing a dedicated communication with a user interface device is disclosed. The method involves generating a communication identifier, the communication identifier being at least locally unique and having a low probability of being duplicated within a locale associated with the controller. The method also involves transmitting an initiation message including the communication identifier from the controller to the user interface device, the initiation message being operable to initiate a communication session between the controller and the user interface device, the communication identifier identifying the communication session. The method further involves receiving at least one message at the controller including a communication identifier, and associating received messages with the communication session that have a communication identifier that corresponds to the communication identifier identifying the communication session.
