  • Patent number: 11485797
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the production of chemically derivatized nanocellulose, comprising the step of a. contacting a precursor cellulosic material with a chemically derivatizing composition to form a liquid reaction mixture, and b. chemically reacting the formed liquid reaction mixture, and c. subjecting the formed liquid reaction mixture to microfluidisation, wherein the steps b. and c. are carried out simultaneously.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 1, 2022
    Assignee: SAPPI Netherlands Services B.V.

  • Publication number: 20220305050
Abstract: An alginate oligomer for use in the anticoagulation therapy of a human or non-human vertebrate subject at risk of blood clots which have an abnormally dense microstructure. In certain embodiments, the incidence of blood clots which have an abnormally dense microstructure in the subject is reduced and/or the occurrence of blood clots which have an abnormally dense microstructure in the subject is inhibited and/or the abnormal microstructure of the subject's clots is normalized. Corresponding methods of anticoagulation therapy and products of use therein are further provided.

  • Patent number: 9103817
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a method and apparatus for determining the instant at which coagulating blood forms a clot—the primary function of a clot being to act as a hemostatic plug at the site of a lesion in the circulatory system. The method comprises applying a harmonically time-varying stress and strain of controlled amplitude and frequency to the blood using a rheometer and through the use of the Chambon-Winter Gel Equation, the method is capable of determining the gel point which precedes the clotting time indicated by a thromboelastograph.

  • Patent number: 9055352
Abstract: A system and method for delivering interactive video and audio content items, e.g., movie clips, music videos, adverts, to a user playback device, such as a television (TV) set. In a preferred embodiment, the content items are delivered within a video on demand (VoD) environment. Each content item has associated attributes that detail the navigational properties for that content item. The content items are delivered as entries in a content sequence. Nonlinear navigation of the video content sequence is facilitated by querying the associated attributes for the current content item and enabling navigational actions (e.g. FF/REW/PAUSE/SKIP/Jump to target) for that content item accordingly. The content items thus permit varying degrees of user interaction. The user interaction is not bound by predetermined navigational rules, since the user is free to experience the sequenced VoD content items in any order.

  • Patent number: 7935371
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a frozen or partially-frozen product which method includes: a) providing a liquid material in a substantially sealed vessel; b) subjecting liquid material to a negative pressure; and c) subjecting the liquid material, whilst under the negative pressure, to a temperature substantially less than 0° C.

  • Publication number: 20100139375
Abstract: An oscillating rheometer adapted for use in measuring rheological properties of blood or the propensity of blood to clot, the rheometer including at lease two surfaces between which a blood sample is introduced, said surfaces being provided as: A first surface, providing a sample receiving member defining a surface for receipt of a blood sample; A second surface, providing a sample contact surface in movable relationship to said first surface. Wherein in use, said first and second surfaces move towards each other so as to sandwich said blood sample between the first and second surfaces, with the blood sample being subjected to a controlled environment provided by way of one or more of the surfaces in contact with the blood to allow for measurement of the rheological properties of the blood or the propensity of the blood to clot.
