  • Publication number: 20240050514
Abstract: The use of a compound for preparing a pharmaceutical composition to reduce levels of TNF?, IL-6, and/or IL-1?. The compound can be used to treat immune or metabolic disorders associated with high levels of TNF?, IL-6, IL-1?, or with high levels of ACE-2 and the respective cardiac, renal and blood-pressure-related consequences, including the problems associated with treatments involving antibodies, or cell therapies, or conditions such as hypertension, myocarditis, pericarditis, coagulopathies, thrombotic, cardiovascular or renal events, or type-2 diabetes, and diseases caused by viruses such as influenza or coronavirus. The in-vivo administration of the composition of the invention affects the modulation of cytokine levels in mammals, and said cytokines are related to high levels of ACE-2, have been shown to be correlated with the severity of the disease associated with SARS-CoV-2, and have been identified as indicative markers of the prognosis of the severity thereof.

  • Patent number: 10933113
Abstract: The present invention relates to the fields of chemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology and medicine. More particularly, the present invention describes: the use of a peptide compound for preparing an anticonvulsant pharmaceutical composition; and a therapeutic method. The peptide compound of the claimed pharmaceutical composition binds to and/or modulates the activity of cannabinoid receptors (CB), particularly CB1 and/or CB2, and has proven to be extremely useful as an anticonvulsant. In one embodiment, the claimed pharmaceutical composition provides excellent anticonvulsant results when administered orally to a mammal, and, in addition to other advantages and technical effects, does not entail the drawbacks arising from the use of cannabinoid substances such as cannabidiol, and provides a stronger therapeutic effect in smaller dosages and with fewer side effects.

  • Patent number: 10654732
Abstract: Equipment for massive dissolution of gases in liquids via the formation of thin liquid films and the exchange of gases with said films. The equipment provides movement of liquids over great distances via the upward movement of bubbles therein. The equipment can alter the direction of the flow of water, said aspect being useful for the recovery of liquid bodies. In addition to providing a high rate of dissolution of gases in liquids, the equipment is very energy-efficient and has a very large volumetric capacity, thereby being useful for the preservation and/or recovery of liquid bodies, being able, in certain applications, to operate in an energy-autonomous manner. The equipment can be used in situations where energy-efficient dissolution of gases in liquids is desired, such as the preservation and/or recovery of liquid bodies; processes for preserving and/or improving the productivity of aquaculture systems; wastewater treatment systems; and the fixation of gases.

  • Publication number: 20170134712
Abstract: A martial arts fighting ring or MMA cage having one or more arrangements of digital cameras connected to a microprocessor which generates digital image files and processes these files to obtain data, statistics, and three-dimensional images in flow motion or in motion. The cage is provided with means to perform statistical analyses of movements such as punches, dodges, and other techniques inside the cage, being particularly useful for training and/or development of striking blows or statistically probable counter-strikes. The reproduction of three-dimensional images, as well as statistical data on their movements, is also particularly useful for better understanding of the sport by non-athletes or spectators, and can be a useful tool for training and for assisting with evaluation and/or practice of sporting activities.

  • Publication number: 20170107129
Abstract: Equipment and a method for on-site and ex-situ modulation of microbial consortia useful in liquid and semi-solid effluents or solid waste treatment systems, for removing and/or reusing undesirable organic or inorganic loads. The equipment has of a main cultivation tank or a liquid body provided with an ex-situ subsystem for modulating microbial consortia for subsequent or concomitant introduction into the main cultivation tank or reactor or into the liquid body. The process is implemented in a culture equipment with controlled conditions for introducing the microorganism-enriched material into the effluent or solid waste to be treated, in the form of pre-cultivation and/or co-cultivation. The ex-situ subsystem of the invention has a device for forming gas/air bubbles in a liquid suitable for applying a shearing force to the microorganisms present in the subsystem, and also useful for modulating the microbial consortia in a main cultivation tank or a liquid body.
