Publication number: 20220111036Abstract: A novel approach to the development of a personalized vaccine. This approach is based on: A) sequencing of the gag gene from an HIV-infected individual treated with antiretroviral therapy; B) sequencing of the HLA alleles of the same individual; C) selecting the epitopes recognized by the individual's own HLA Class I within the highly-conserved Gag256-377, Gag147-169 and/or Gag225-251 amino acid sequences. An original algorithm that designs the target peptide for the vaccine starting from viral and HLA sequences of an individual with HIV/AIDS, forms the core of the present invention. The original algorithm makes extensive use of existing open- source software for protein design. The peptides designed in this manner and accordingly synthesized may be exploited as a therapeutic vaccine against HIV/AIDS. Vehicles for such peptides may be an individual's own dendritic cells pulsed with the peptide combination or a specific viral or DNA vector leading to intracellular expression of the viral peptides.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2021Publication date: April 14, 2022Inventors: Ricardo Diaz, Andrea Savarino, Iart Shytaj

Publication number: 20210259546Abstract: Diabetes is a disease characterized by high levels of blood glucose. It is important to keep diabetes under control to avoid short- and long-term complications. Diabetes can affect vision due to the alterations it produces in the blood vessels of the retina. This is known as Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), which is one of the leading causes of impaired vision in developed countries. One of the complications of diabetic retinopathy is Diabetic Macular Edema (DME), which is the leading cause of vision loss in diabetic patients and can appear at any stage of diabetic retinopathy. This consists of the gradual accumulation of fluid in the macula, the most important area of the retina. The determination of diabetic macular oedema is very important for the retina. The determination of diabetic macular oedema is very important for adequate treatment of this condition.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2019Publication date: August 26, 2021Inventors: Arturo SANTOS GARCIA, Juan Carlos ALTAMIRANO VALLEJO, Luis Manuel APARICIO ROMERO, Alejandro GARCIA GONZALEZ, Ricardo DIAZ DOMINGUEZ, Rita Quetziquel FUENTES AGUILAR, Gisela Hialta SANCHEZ SOSA

Publication number: 20200118689Abstract: A system to evaluate the fall risk facing a patient and then adjust the care or observation toward that patient to minimize potential injury is provided. The system includes a fall risk scoring system which is based upon data collected from multiple inputs, including in-room data collection means and historical information. These scores are then updated continually and tracked, so additional knowledge and actions can be taken. Based upon the current scores, and historical scores, the system can then direct various adjustable and specific actions, with the goal of protecting the patient and minimizing injuries.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2019Publication date: April 16, 2020Inventors: Nicholas Luthy, Sabastian Ricardo Diaz, Brick Thompson, Alex McDonald-Smith, Alex Lindsay, Akshay Manohar Reddy

Publication number: 20150141735Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and device for the selective destruction of cells that with uncontrolled proliferation in an animal organism, with minimum damage to the surrounding tissue thereby and without needing to perform any kind of surgical operation on the patient: the method consists of the detection of the tumorous area (1) and the sequential and alternate application of at least two alternating magnetic fields with different directions to the treatment area or application until achieving the heating and destruction of the cells. The device used is, therefore, comprised of at least two electromagnets (11, 12) or at least two pairs of electromagnets (11-11?, 12-12?) all being located around the perimeter of a hypothetical circumference or sphere, with the electromagnets in opposing pairs where each opposing pair generates an electromagnetic field in one direction and orientation.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2013Publication date: May 21, 2015Applicant: INVESTIGACIONES, DESARROLLOS INNOVACIONES TAT IBERICA, S.L.Inventors: Ricardo Díaz Valle, Sonia Tejada Solís, Juan Manuel Sepúlveda Sánchez, Virginia Rodríguez González, Ana Castaños Cantos, Marina Torres Gómez, Ildefonso Del Campo Sánchez, Vicente Torres Junco

Patent number: 8640785Abstract: An agricultural implement system is provided that includes a valve in fluid communication with first and second actuating cylinders and with first and second fluid conduits. The valve is configured to control fluid flow from the first and second fluid conduits to the first and second actuating cylinders. Furthermore, a controller is communicatively coupled to first and second pressure sensors and to the valve. The first pressure sensor is coupled to the first fluid conduit, and the second pressure sensor is coupled to the second fluid conduit. The controller is configured to determine whether the first fluid conduit or the second fluid conduit is supplying fluid to the valve based on signals from the first and second pressure sensors, and to automatically control fluid flow to the first and second actuating cylinders such that wheel assemblies are rotated to a desired angle relative to an implement frame.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2010Date of Patent: February 4, 2014Assignee: CNH America LLCInventors: Ricardo Diaz, Leonard A. Bettin

Publication number: 20130046580Abstract: A computerized apparatus and method may “pull” an event to a city rather than it being “pushed” by promoters. The system manages athletic matches, concerts, and other entertainment events requiring performers (the talent or act), a venue at a city, and ticket sales to attendees who pay the box office or “gate,” processing suggestions, voting, weighting of votes based on previous histories of customers purchasing and preference information. Later purchases substitute for votes in engaging customers to attend proposed events, which may still be cancelled if projected threshold sales are not met. If insufficient attendance is determined by the computer at a pre-determined deadline, the system cancels the event and issues refunds in cash, kind, discounts, or the like.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2012Publication date: February 21, 2013Inventors: Michael Lynn Harker, Ricardo Diaz Barrozo Netto

Patent number: 4215759Abstract: A guidance control system is disclosed for a traction vehicle arranged to be displaced along a guide path which consists of a plurality of closed loop vertical antennae embedded beneath the surface along the path of travel. The vehicle is in two way radio communication with wayside stations equipment. Destination information in binary coded form is encoded on the vehicle and sent to the proximate loop antenna; the fact that this coded information is received at a particular segmented antenna at once identifies the location of the vehicle as well as conveys the destination intelligence. A central processor, receiving the location and destination information, of this and all other vehicles, serves as a master control to discipline each vehicle from one segmented loop to the next. From the central processor the wayside station sends traction signals to each segmented antenna loop respectively.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1975Date of Patent: August 5, 1980Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventor: Ricardo A.
