  • Patent number: 10361508
Abstract: A connector includes a connector array of magnets having a first magnetic polarity pattern. A port includes a port array of magnets having a second magnetic polarity pattern that is complementary to the first magnetic polarity pattern. The connector is guided and aligned toward a mounted position in which the connector is retained on the port. The guiding and the aligning is through both (i) attraction when the connector is properly aligned to the port and (ii) repulsion when the connector is improperly aligned to the port. The port further includes a securing magnet configured to be activated when the connector reaches the mounted position, to magnetically secure the connector to the port.

  • Publication number: 20110189670
Abstract: The present invention comprises a method of detecting circular tumor cells and methods of detecting, evaluating, or staging cancer in a patient, as well as a method of monitoring treatment of cancer in a patient using the claimed method. The method comprises contacting a sample with a CD45 binding agent; selecting the cells based on positive or negative CD45 staining; contacting the selected cells with a labeled nucleic acid probe, and detecting hybridized cells by fluorescence in situ hybridization; and analyzing a signal produced by the labels on the hybridized cells to detect the CTCs. In other embodiments, the method provides for directed to a method of determining the level of CTCs in a sample having blood cells from a patient by contacting a sample having blood cells from a patient, wherein the sample has not been pre-sorted into CD45-positive and CD45-negative cells.

  • Publication number: 20100317002
Abstract: Provided is a method of identifying a genetically abnormal cell in a sputum sample, the method comprising: (a) staining a sputum sample using a morphological stain so as to identify a lower airway tract cell or lung cell in the sputum sample; and (b) staining the sputum sample using fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) so as to identify in the lower airway tract cell or lung cell a genetic abnormality in at least one of human chromosome 3p22.1 and 10q22-23, thereby identifying the genetically abnormal cell in the sputum sample. Also provided are methods and kits of diagnosing lung cancer by detecting a presence of genetically abnormal cells above a predetermined threshold in a sputum sample.

  • Patent number: 5294994
Abstract: An computer assembly having an integral video display and processor subsystem in a single enclosure is described. The assembly contains an electrically conductive safety wall inside the enclosure which separates the interior of the enclosure into a high-voltage region where the video display components are mounted, and a low-voltage region where the processor subsystem is mounted. The enclosure has a removable rear cover which allows access to the processor subsystem for upgrading memory. An electrically conductive liner is attached to the rear cover for EMI shielding of the low-voltage region.

  • Patent number: 5227582
Abstract: The disclosed invention relates to a video display system having a device for shielding electromagnetic radiation emitted from electrical wires which connect a video amplifier to a cathode ray tube. The device uses inexpensive unshielded wires which are recessed within a conductive shielding enclosure. The wires are connected to the cathode ray tube by a socket which is positioned at an access opening in the shielding enclosure. The invention further relates to a device for mounting a shielding enclosure to a base using tabs on the enclosure which are captured in an interference fit between the surface of the base and brackets coupled to the base.
