Abstract: A self-threading condenser for disposition within a drafting zone of a textile machine. The condenser includes a diminishing radii guide profile which directs a fiber strand contacting the guide profile into a fiber strand-carrying notch defined in the condenser. The condenser is allowed to float laterally in response to movements of strand passing through the drafting zone.

Abstract: A bearing device for use in textile drafting roller pairs for supporting the top roller of a drafting roller pair. The bearing device finds particular use with magnetic drafting rollers, but can be used with other types of roller configurations. The bearing device allows for the top roller to be selectively positioned with respect to the bottom roller in order to allow removal of the top roller and to prevent deformation of cots or aprons provided thereon during machine stoppage. A rotating debris excluding interface is also provided through interaction of the bearing device and the end of a roller. Handles are attached to the bearing device for allowing extraction of the top roller from a roller pair, and ribs may be provided on the bearing device or receptacle therefor to facilitate piecing up of a broken yarn. Related methods of use of the bearing device are also disclosed.

Abstract: A magnetic roll for use in roller pairs of a drafting system on a textile machine. Each magnetic roll includes a central pole member having a rare earth magnet positioned on either side thereof. An end pole member is provided adjacent each magnet, and a cot is provided next to each end pole member for gripping and propelling fibers between the roller pairs of the drafting system.
