  • Publication number: 20190021901
Abstract: A Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) is disclosed which is useful for the treatment of snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). The improved MAD design comprises upper and lower splints which can be set at an advanced protrusive position (as desired for snoring/OSA therapy), but which also permits some degree of lateral mandibular movement. Further, the amount of protrusive mandibular advancement is easily adjustable without the need of a dentist or special tools. Setting the protrusive position while permitting some lateral movement is accomplished using connector blocks connected to the splints. The connector blocks comprise linear protrusions which can be laterally slid together to interlock and hold a horizontal and vertical position of the upper and lower splints.

  • Patent number: 9348675
Abstract: A method of responding to random service request messages received on an enterprise service bus of a computer network, each of said messages being a member of a group of related messages, in which the received messages are stored in a queue when detected by a listener for processing in a process flow having one or more nodes connected by respective edges between the listener and an emitter. In immediate mode, a message is accepted for processing only when a node is available and no other message in the same group is being processed. In batch mode, all of the messages in a group must be present in the queue before the messages in the group can be processed in predetermined order.

  • Patent number: 8917290
Abstract: Methods and devices for digital image templating are presented. According to example embodiments, a computing device may match a template image (e.g., an implant) to a target image (e.g., a bone structure). The both the target image and the template image may be displayed on an output of the computing device. The displayed template image may be oriented with respect to the displayed target image according to at least a scale (e.g., a magnification level of the template image). Based on received input, at least the scale of the displayed template image may be adjusted so that the adjusted displayed template image substantially fits the part of the displayed target image. Then, based on this fit, a physical template size may be selected from a discrete range of physical template sizes.

  • Patent number: 8908937
Abstract: Methods and devices for orthopedic templating are presented. In an example embodiment, a template object is displayed on an output device that is also displaying a target object and a reference object. The target object may be displayed at an unknown magnification level, while the reference object is of a known size. By measuring the size of the reference object as displayed, the magnification level of the target object can be determined. Then, the template object or the target object can be sized such that the template object substantially matches at least a section of the target object. Once matched, the template object may be overlaid, transparently or semi-transparently, on or with the target object. The template object may also be rotated or moved so that it aligns with at least the matched part of the target object.

  • Publication number: 20100297246
Abstract: Osteoporosis, is an exceedingly common malady that leads to bone fracture and results from an imbalance in the rate of osteoblastic bone formation with respect to osteoclastic bone degradation. Nanotechnology has raised exciting possibilities for the development of novel therapeutic agents. Embodiments of the disclosure provide silica-based fluorescent nanoparticles endowed with natural bone targeting capabilities and expressing potent pro-osteoblastogenic and concomitant anti-osteoclastogenic activities in vitro and the capacity to increase bone mineral density in vivo. Embodiments of the disclosure can achieve their stimulatory effects on osteoblasts, and inhibitory effects on osteoclasts, in part by suppressing NF-?B signal transduction. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide for derivatives of silica-based nanoparticles that represent a novel class of dual anti-catabolic and pro-anabolic agents that may be applicable to the amelioration of numerous osteoporotic conditions.

  • Patent number: 7164507
Abstract: An imaging system, which may be applied both to black and white and color imaging systems and comprising a platen member which defines an imaging portion and a calibration portion is disclosed. The imaging portion and the calibration portion comprise separate portions of the platen member. The platen member is supported by a movably mounted support member, and moves with the support member between a platen member calibrating position and a platen member imaging position. The platen member is dimensioned to support a sheet to be imaged. An imaging module with an imaging zone is supported in a position where the imaging zone is positioned to coincide with a portion of a sheet supported on the imaging portion of the platen member, when the platen member is in the platen member imaging position. A calibration member having a reference reflectivity is adhered to the calibration portion of the platen member.

  • Publication number: 20050223318
Abstract: A highly portable user-friendly development environment is provided that can enable the creative design of custom electronic presentations. Users can design their own custom presentations from a storyboard document, and collaborate with others during the development process. The document-based authoring environment uses a standard word processing document and the structure and content of the presentation can be defined using constructs. The development of presentations can take place in the cells of an electronic table of the word processing document. The constructs are specified in connection with the table, and a build process can process the document and generate a presentation based on the constructs and the content in the table. This document-based authoring environment can expand the possibilities of e-learning course development beyond conventional database development environments.

  • Publication number: 20050204337
Abstract: A highly portable user-friendly development environment is provided that can enable the creative design of custom electronic presentations. Users can design their own custom presentations and even their own custom approach for making software development a rational industrial process. The document-based authoring environment uses a standard word processing document, which is controlled by a wizard. The development of presentations can take place in the cells of an electronic table of the word processing document. This document-based authoring environment can expand the possibilities of e-learning course development beyond conventional database development environments.

  • Publication number: 20050188297
Abstract: Techniques are provided for synchronizing audio and visual content. A multiple audio language product can be produced containing a single video file that is automatically synchronized to whichever audio the viewer selects. The audio streams and video streams are processed into a plurality of segments. If, for example, an audio stream is selected that corresponds to a particular language, which is not the original audio stream that the video was synchronized to, then the duration of each audio segment in the selected stream can be compared with the duration of each segment in the original audio stream. The number of frames in a segment of the video stream can be adjusted based on the comparison. If the playback duration of the selected audio segment is greater than the corresponding original audio segment, one or more frames in the video segment can be repeated.

  • Patent number: 6908269
Abstract: A dynamic cargo restraint system has a stationary hook member mounted in a bezel for engagement with a second movable hook member that is stored in a second bezel. The movable hook member is attached to a cord that is engaged with a retraction mechanism housed within the corresponding wall of the cargo area to retract the cord for automatic storage when the movable hook member is not in use. The movable hook member can be threaded through the handles of grocery bags before being attached to the stationary hook member to support the grocery bags in an upright orientation. The hook members and the bezels can be formed in a variety of shapes, and are stored substantially flush with the walls of the cargo area. The stationary hook member can be pivoted within it's bezel to project outwardly therefrom for engagement with the movable hook member.
